DOGGONIT

Updated on May 11, 2015

A LITTLE INTRO

Is it possible to SEE the best and the worst in myself and in you, and yet only KNOW and LOVE myself and you as God knows and loves us, as God created us?

I HOPE SO.  I THINK SO.  I KNOW SO.

I AM BEAUTIFUL, I AM PERFECT, JUST THE WAY I AM

DOGGONIT

The infant stares
Deep into our eyes,
Hardly looking
For disdain or disapproval.

The infant has no anticipation,
No fear of our rejection.

The infant just knows
“I am lovable,
I am perfect
Just the way I am,”
Until.....
Well, yes, until the onslaught
Of often well-meaning
But nevertheless wounding
Words and events,
Some out-right perverse,
So perverse,
We end up feeling perverse,
Sometimes becoming perverse.

At 65,
I stare
Deep into your eyes, Lord,
Hardly looking
For disdain or disapproval.

But now I know, Lord,
My perverse self.
Well, yes,
That is how I have come to know myself.
And sadly, Lord,
I have returned the favor a hundred fold.
And, of course,
I anticipate and fear
Everyone’s rejection,
Especially the people I love
And who love me.
And, of course,
I anticipate and fear
Your rejection, Lord.

And doggonit,
You won’t oblige me, Lord.
You look back
Deep into my eyes
And all you see
Is who you created.
You keep telling me
“I am lovable,
I am  perfect
Just the way I am.”

I am slowly learning, Lord.

And I will return the favor
A hundred fold.

I LOVE MYSELF JUST THE WAY I AM

I LOVE MYSELF JUST THE WAY I AM

      Hey, TOM

Good to hear from you and read your comment. I am doing well, really well, and my life is very challenging in some ways, and I am learning how to just let it be challenging and not create drama over the challenges for myself or for anyone else for that matter. I am beginning to see how much control I try to exert over parts of my life I have no control over and at the same time, some times being afraid to push forward in those areas where I have all the control in the world, but do not exercise it. I have been saying the serenity prayer a lot these days, and sometimes I forget how the prayer goes and I say, "God grant me the serenity to control the things I cannot control....." I'll stop and say, "M-m-m! I don't think that's how the prayer goes!!" So it has been an interesting month and I am growing and a little nervous about blossoming! So how is this for an answer?

      Peace and Love, Bro

      Vern

Hello, Karanda, 63 minutes ago. It is 7:05 pm on Thursday evening, May 19. I am glad you enjoyed the photos and the poem. I enjoy taking the photos of the flowers. We have a zillion beautiful flowers around here and I just love getting as close up as I can to see their "inner" beauty, so delicate, so precious, so outstanding in color, so mysterious in their unfolding.

Take care and thanks for reading and commenting.

I am thrilled you liked the pictures. I enjoy taking the photos and I have taken almost all of them. Where else does an amateur photographer get to post his "work?" I am glad you enjoyed the "message" as well.

      THE WHISPERER

You sound like "The Shadow" from early day radio. Thanks for leaving your trademark (a poem) and thanks for stopping by to read and comment. Will return the favor a hundred fold.

      THANKS TO ALL OF YOU

      Time

      Like sand,

      is tender in our hand.

      Blown by the wind,

      and blinding what's to come.
