Dagda's Bowl Journal Entries Nine and Ten
Journal Entry 9
I have won. After ten celestial days, I have successfully fought Magic into its new channel. I have not removed the block as of yet. Partially because they have not made sufficient amends. Mostly because I have no energy left to do so. I must rest.
A Welcome Visit
Celeste came to see me during my recovery. She seemed quite surprised and moved by my evident exhaustion. I had gone to rest in the Great Garden as it is a source of power for me as well. I hid myself away in a private corner of the Garden where I knew no one would bother me. To my surprise, Celeste walked into my corner with the clear view of speaking to me. Upon first seeing me, however, she gasped and dropped lightly beside me.
“My Lord of Magic, I had heard your efforts had depleted you but I had no idea it was to such an extent. May I bring anything for your ease or comfort?”
I could not help but smile at the motherly care which made up such a large part of her very essence.
The Right Thing
“Thank you, dear Lady of Nature, I am quite comfortable despite my exhaustion. The Garden restores me through its beauty. I shall be returned to my usual health in a few days.”
Looking at her, I could still see the effects of the destruction. Her hair, though no longer grey and ash like, was the light-brown of overheated ground and had no life to it. Her skin had become almost translucent with occasional smudges like char appearing and disappearing. However, she had her old vivacity to her again and I could tell that both she and the land were healing.
“I am glad that you are comfortable. I wished only to come and thank you for your activities on my behalf. The gift that you granted me has allowed my Protectors to heal the wound so much faster than they would have been able to otherwise. By stopping others access to Magic, you have given Nature time to right itself. Now, I understand that you have limited the future access of mortals.”
Mortal's capacity for self-destruction

“Yes, when I chose to lift the block, mortals will only be able to access the Magic that they have the power to control.”
“Forgive me, but why, as this is your sphere, did such an action exhaust you?”
“Magic is my sphere, my Lady, but it is its own entity. It does not care to be restricted and fought me every step of the way. My sphere is not just Magic but also the care and regulation of Magic. A duty, I fear, I have failed up until just recently. I did not regard mortal magic-users who were not my creatures as my responsibility unless they were one of my followers. I see now that I was wrong. I should have started this process before I ever gave them Magic.”
“Their capacity for self-destruction still surprises all of us. None of us were prepared for their willingness to sacrifice themselves to destroy each other. You have done what was necessary. Forgive yourself for I have certainly forgiven you.”
So saying, she rose and left me to my rest.
Journal Entry 10
I have now fully recovered from my battle with Magic. I have been entreated by the various Gods and Goddesses to consider lifting the block on Magic. The mortals have fully replanted the forests with the help of the Protectors. They have successfully raised a group of orphaned animals whose parents had been killed by the fire. They have also raised the status of the Protectors to the equivalent of a knight with laws that cannot be rewritten. I have spoken with Celeste, the Goddess of Nature, and she agrees that they have made sufficient amends. She also fears the coming winter maybe harder than the previous one and impossible for the mortals to survive without magical assistance.
Enforcement of the Rules
Our list of rules regarding the use of magic has been passed down by every God and Goddess. Their clerics have been informed to highlight these rules as divine laws that must not be circumvented. I have broken the block but all users are now limited to their own ability. I have heard several complaints regarding this new restriction and take great pleasure in suggesting that I take away all Magic again. I fear it shall be many years before I fully trust my non-magical creature magic users. I admit my responsibility in not controlling their access but I still cannot believe the folly they were willing to commit.
