Dance to the end... A poem

Updated on August 12, 2013
Source

Dance with me on the isle of tears

As the winds of change blow

Dance with me as we mourn the years

As we finally reap what we sow

Sing with me a forlorn cry

As the dark skies weep

Sing with me the litany of lies

We swallowed as blind deaf sheep

Laugh with me as the world burns

Leaving nothing but ash and decay

Laugh with me over a lesson not learned

As we forever turn away

End of days
End of days

Ride with me as the whole world falls

And we taste extinctions edge

Ride with me into oblivions call

Gripping tight to reasons ledge

Remember with me the Eden that we lost

The beauty plundered and split

Remember with me luxuries true cost

Our sins to hard to admit

Apocalypse
Apocalypse

Mourn with me as the skies turns dark

And the waters churn and toss

Mourn with me the world we tore apart

The lives we gave and lost

So

Dance with me to the symphony of sorrows

With no more words to pray

Dance with me to no tomorrow

As we face the end of days

thank you so much! I am so glad that you enjoyed this piece of mine,

I personally believe that as the caretakers of this world we often need to follow our prayers through with action, as it will be the power of faith in action that will not only save our world but ourselves as well

I often worry about my rhyming structures, especially as I hated "The work" behind poetry in high school, so its nice when my writing hits home with someone, thank you

Wonderful poem Nighthag, as well as the images and the message behind it. I am passionate about trying to get the message across about climate change and global warming too, and have written hubs to that effect as well. Also good to come across another Aussie. Well done, voted up.

Excellent rhythm and rhyming. It flowed very well and flowed. I appreciated that. As for global warming let's keep praying that God will maintain control of His world. However, thank you for bringing this information to us.

Always a thrill and a honor to be here with you my friend and also to receive inspiring comments from you as well.

Definitely Leonard Cohen would have been proud to write something like this - your words, as always, tell a vivid story worthy of any movie and this piece carries a profound soulful message as well.

I hope everything is well in your life and I am sending warm wishes to you from Colin , Tiffy and Gabriel at lake erie time canada 12:23am and posting your work on FB for everyone to see and read.

      Hi NightNoWorld:

Too much information ….and dancing the tango in oblivious bliss

      At the edge of extinction

Hope the world ends it days as a demolition job

Making room for the intergalactic highway

A story about dinning and dancing at the end of the universe

You make the world a foreign place to live.

      Always exploring

I have to admit the documentaries scared me (and that takes a lot) so much so that this poem wrote itself, with me as a bystander and those beautiful pictures where just to stunning not to use

I'm thrilled that you liked it :) and I will be sure to checkout "the last poet"

Very stirring poem. It is especially important right now that our sins not be too hard to admit, as we can repent, as these last days are already upon us and it will get worse ... for there are and will continue to be signs and wonders.

You are a gifted poet no doubt! Superb poem, very thought-provoking write.

Interesting video too. Obviously, the polar ice caps are shrinking at an astonishing rate.

I commented earlier on a hub "The last Poet" which had Armageddon for a backdrop. But if it's a choice between a poet's reading and a last dance before the world comes to an end, I'll go with "happy feet".:)
