"Dancing Outside the Devil's Gate"

Tip toeing

No one knowing

Dancing outside the Devil's gate

Leading us inside the mind

We find

Our selves

Tapping a slow tip tap

On the cast iron rods

We all wanna know what's inside

I hear there's riches

I hear there's bitches

That'll do anything you say to do

From behind the Devil's gate women are both bitches and riches, this I thought you knew

There are no rules behind the Devil's gate

Just a few broken winged angels who took a fall

If you took a look back you'd see where the wing meets bone

At one point we all thought we could fly

But now we dance outside the Devil's gate

Tip tapping our toes

Tip tapping our feet

Tip tapping our fingers

Tip tapping to the beat

Drumming now on the iron rods of the Devil's gate

The fires getting hot on the outside

We bead with sweat from the flames

Faces pressed against the rods

Melting our souls and squeezing through

When faced with fire outside the gate what would you do?

Of course you'd abandon your soul and sell it too

To the highest bidder

This thing never did me no good anyway

Plus it's kind of heavy and I don't even know if it exists

I wonder what the devil's lips taste like

I want just one kiss

To be wrapped around me

Sin I'm in

Tastes so sweet

To err is to be human, humanity is In pain what do we do?

Keep melting

Slide on in through the Devil's gate

Let him sell your flesh

As he rips at your chest

Grabbing, devouring, spitting it back into you

Smiling; the devil gives you his back

And laughs at how feeble we are

Still, we dance

Waiting for the chance

To squeeze in

Very interesting, though we hate to admit it and certainly try not to, we all dance outside the devils gate. It's like standing outside and looking inside the window of a candy store you can't help but be enticed by what's inside.

Good analogy Dana. We all are tempted.

Things that aren't really good for us seem to be the most alluring. You always write great poems, Eric. I think this one is my fav.
