Dancing Through The Night (poem)

Updated on February 26, 2016

We were the couple dancing through the night

We were the dreams which others hid from sight

We were the challenge which set hearts to flight

We were the glimpse of others hidden light

-

What years of shadows long had hid away

What fears and doubt would not permit to stray

What tears and silence slowly caused decay

What smears away their will no one would say

-

Yet there they were these urchins of their night

To unknown reasons locked and could not stray

And all around where signs of death’s decay

As they all huddled near the last of light

-

Then we appeared to take them far away

Disgruntled judges greet us at each sight

They hoped to hasten our uncalled-for flight

But when things changed what then was left to say

-

They were reborn as children with our light

They were now free to set their dreams in flight

They were aware we vanished from their sight

They were the couples dancing through the night

I see sadness in this poem. I do believe the couple could have kept on dancing if they tried harder. Up and awesome!
