Daniel of Lucid Dreams ... A Poem to Music

Updated on July 15, 2018

'Watermark Voyage' - Enya

You call me to the path

Bathed in the light of tides.

Oh...how this heals the sharded heart

Through a thousand tiny prisms.

Here, we are one

Of glittering liquefaction

That mirrors and responds

In caressing folds of silver white

And lapis blue --

Wet and smooth.

Here, in null of sun

And void of night

We ride the light of perfect sighs.

We speak not a word

And see the poet silent.

We think not of your death

For it is unknown here…

Until...

I hear the dissonance…

Does your promise bring you here?

Again…

Is dawn waiting to hide this in reproach?

Thoughts invade...

Relentless, silent tendrils

Folding the path of water inward,

Upon itself,

Seizing me from your embrace.

You follow me before I drift beyond,

Impaled in a wall of cloud shadowed blue,

Closing here

Becoming there...

I shock awake, unyielding.

Quietly, I find my box of secrets and open soft;

Your smile greets me in rugged grace

Imprisoned in silver frame;

As in life, your blue eyes draw me close

And my heart tumbles into them,

These small windows and mirrors I cup in my hands

to catch

the dream

that slips away...

And dawn steals the promise.

Thank you, Peggy, for those lovely thoughts. This was a poem close to my heart and not easy to write. And yes, I do. :-)

My departed loved ones quite often visit me in my dreams and I cherish those times. Your beautiful poetry certainly brought this to mind. I hope that you often share those times with your loved ones who may no longer be present in this life.

Thank you, Mike. Your comment means more than you know. This dream was deeply personal, and not easy to write. The dream kept drifting in and out of lucid dreaming. The memory, the images and the words will always live in my heart. I will never forget.

Simply beautiful and awe inspiring genna. The imagery has a bittersweet memory that is locked in a box of secrets. This is someone who was and still is very special to you and visits in your dreams. Such lovely poetry brings tears to the heart.

These words like most of your words leave me spellbound, simply brilliant what more is there to say.

"As in life, your blue eyes draw me close

And my heart tumbles into them,

These small windows and mirrors I cup in my hands

      to catch

      the dream

      that slips away...

This poet is silenced, yet I read your dream and my senses soar. Thank you Genna this is exquisite. Bravo, I humbly applaud you.

......well it's always the (hall) or (trade) 'mark' of a great writer to be able to take their readers (literally in the canyons of their minds) to another world of imagination through the effortless selection of a few well chosen words ..... and you are perfect living proof of this very craft - thank you for stepping 'outside the proverbial box' and allowing us to take this poetic journey with you.

And thank you for one of the greatest comments ever on my Wal*Mart piece - it doesn't get any better than that - and what makes it sweeter is that it comes from someone as special and unique as you. And please feel free to post it at Wal*Mart if you so desire - but will it allow me an employee discount? lol lol - I live not far from a Wal*Mart in Simcoe and I go there all of the time!!!!!

I love this poem but don't have the words to explain why. It evokes memories I feel I should have or perhaps dreams I have forgotten. I recognize this illusive feeling and keep coming back to read it. The video is beautiful and goes well with your words. The photo is well chosen and I am so glad I have come across your hubs. Voted up beautiful and awesome. Thank you.

Genna, wow. I am not normally this speechless! I will resort to one word emotions!

'Oh...how this heals the sharded heart

      Through a thousand tiny prisms…'

      sigh!

'In caressing folds of silver white

      And lapis blue

      Wet and smooth…'

      Mesmerizing!

'You follow me before I drift beyond,

Impaled in a wall of cloud shadowed blue'

Dizzy! I am going dizzy with delight.

What an absolute stunner you have penned here. Give me your hands and I'll kiss them. Awesome!

@Doug Thanks Doug. In this dream, there weren't any extra words -- just images and feelings and senses and being here which becomes there. You said it perfectly about extra words being superfluous...that's exactly how it is.
