Poem of the Sociopath

Words Fly, tales are spoken

Lie after lie, trust is broken

Dark scenarios, begin to emerge

Sadistic acts, evil to purge

Double life, hidden for years

Videos found, break down in tears

Questioning self, how could it be?

White collar Sociopath, living with me

Definition of Sociopath

"Sociopath" was a term used in the past for a patient with antisocial personality disorder, according to MedicineNet:

A person with this disorder shows a strong pattern of systemically violating and disregarding the rights of others, and he normally does not feel guilty when his actions hurt other people.:

Inspiration for Poem:

I've always found healing in writing poetry; no matter if the topic is happy or sad. Writing purges all emotions from my soul. It eases my fears, anxieties, and strengthens my hopes and dreams.,

This particular poem was my way of dealing with a very traumatic break up of a marriage of one of my best friends. Many secrets came out about the kind of double life my friend's husband was living. I know we all have certain parts of us not everyone knows, but when it's so contrasting to the person you thought you knew, it's painful and scary to take it all in. This scenario is unfortunately not uncommon. Thankfully, for my friend, she has moved on with life and has found love again with a man she trust's.

Cryptically dark, I like the part:

    "Sadistic acts

    evil to purge

    Double life

    hidden for years"

I can only interpret for myself and my own twin inside my split soul. However, I see more meaning coming from your mind, the creature. Mysterious keeps me wondering into the abyss.

    Bravo! Awesome Poem! Voted Up!

Very poignant poem, and the spirals of pain are so well expressed in the flow of your words in this piece....and he has kids, too! I hope they can all recover and live lives of happiness once they can put some distance between the rascal and themselves. Amazing that this evil sends ripples that travel so far and wide. But I know that you and others in your circle of friends will be able to overcome that ripple of evil with ripples of love!

What a hopeful thing to say Seafarer Mama. I have always believed that Good always wins over evil. My dear friend is working through this with love from friends, family and therapist. I know she will eventually be detached from who she thought this man was. She's already seeing her children happier since he's been out of the house. He was very controlling and angry and they all walked on egg shells when he was there.

What a coincidence - I've just read a poem about lost souls, and here I came to find another.

Oh, I know all about this. The pain of rejection, the fear of the unknown, etc. However, I knew from the start - it doesn't came as a surprise. It was a matter of 'giving robe for the evidently self-slaying to happen'. Sounds painless, but the waiting was like living in a torture-chamber. Somehow there is truth in those Bible scripts - This life is a process of torturing us to purity... Oh, and I am still far from pure....

Minnetonka, I hope this happened in your past and that you are already healed? If not, please know you have all my empathy. May you get all the strength you need to pick up the pieces and move on :)

Oh, just saw it happened to your friend :) Please give her my best wishes...

God Bless you Martie for your thoughtful comment. Life does have a way of teaching us through lots of pain. Most people that knew this man, realized he was a true narcissist. I know so many women and men that have been charmed by this personality type and are later blown away when they see the double life and true person emerge. It's a true life horror movie.

Hi Vincent-it's great to see you here. It is truly scary how many sociopath's are walking among us. The sad part is, most of us believe what we see in front of us as we aren't wired to think it's a lie. The process of coming to terms with who the person really is, can be devastating. My friend is in therapy to help get through this. All her friends are rallying around her. Blessings friend.
