Dark of Night, Light of Day

Updated on November 16, 2014

We all deal with the duality of the light and dark within ourselves. For some it is a constant battle.

The inner demons come out in the dark of night,

The inner angels fight until light of day.

The inner soul is tested and tortured in the dark of night,

The inner soul is soothed and healed in the light of day.

The dark of night looks to envelop and take control,

The light of day looks to embrace and release from pain.

The tears of pain, the screams of inner agony discharge in the dark of night,

The heaving sobs of liberation and exhaustion give exoneration in the light of day.

The guilt and fear of anyone discovering the self-crucifixion in the dark of night,

The security and safety that no one has glimpsed the torture in the light of day.

The ache and misery culminate in a final battle that is fought in the dark of night,

The joy and absolution of the inner feud temporarily won, rejoices in the light of day.
