My Daughter My Friend

Updated on November 26, 2015

one more week

and you will be here

I already feel

your presence

even before

you first arrived

we connected

on a level

beyond logic

twenty-seven years ago

yesterday

and now

next week

I can once again

hold you

and then

let you go

      Russ, you made me cry.

What a beautiful, honest and real expression of love and affection for a daughter. The title in itself shows the beautiful bond you share with her.

I am going to share this poem everywhere I can - twitter, fb and HP

Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Lovely - I have a daughter of 24 years old, she's gone to visit my mum for a week, and I miss her; She comes home in a week - so this poem resonated deeply for me today. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comments guys. I am very grateful for the privilege of being a father. I sensed at the beginning that it would be the most significant role I would play in this life and it has been and I guess always will be.

Thanks Russ...I know what you feel...that special connection between father and daughter...it never goes away...they will always be Daddy's little girl, to be protected, sharing secrets, laughing together, sharing that special reflective love...
