I own all seven seasons of True Blood and even though the books and show are similar they are also very different!

The First Of Many Differences

Book- Says that Sookie is excited to meet a vampire, and that she had waited for a vampire of her own. Says that bill had a glow to him when she first looked upon him.

Show- Sookie only took notice of Bill because he was the only mind she couldn't hear. Bill was pale and didn't have a glow to him.

First Encounter

Sam's Reaction

Book- Says Sam gave Sookie a little smile before she went to ask Bill what he wanted to order.

Show- Sam was not smiling when Sookie went to take Bill's order. He was mad because Sookie was excited to meet him and seemed more relaxed with Bill then with him.

Book- Says that Bill and his wife have five children and that he was a farmer.

Show- Says that Bill and his wife only had three children and that he was a soldier.

Sam and Sookie

Book- Said that Sam told her that she could read his mind, but when she tried he had blocked her. She confronted him about not being human. Show- Sam offered for her to read his mind but she didn't want to. She accidentally did.

Book- Says Jason made sex tapes with all the women that he slept with.

Show- Maudette had made a tape of the two of them unbeknownst to Jason, which was later found after her death.

Choice Of Drink

Book- Says that Bill fed off other humans aside from Sookie.

Show- If Bill wasn't feeding off Sookie, then he was drinking the synthetic blood.

Synthetic blood that the Japanese created for the vampires to drink to sustain them even though it doesn't sustain the fulfillment.

Meeting Eric Again

Book- Claims Bill persuaded Sookie to drink from him on the pretense of meeting Eric again.

Show- Sookie never drank from Bill before meeting Eric for the second time. Plus Bill could hardly ever persuade Sookie to do much of anything.

Reading Their Minds

Book- Says Sookie could read Eric's mind, but not Bill's.

Show- She couldn't read any of the vampires minds, even when she tried to.

Book- Says someone flung Sookie's cat at the front door and that the cat was strangled to death.

Show- The cat was hanging from the ceiling fan, her blood sprayed on the walls.

Newest Vampire

Book- Describes a vampire named Bubba who Bill left with Sookie in order to protect her while he was away. Bubba was Elvis Presley before he was turned while on his last breath on the morgue table.

Show- Bubba never watched over Sookie. Bill never left anyone to watch over her while he was gone.

Rene Was The Season One Killer

The Truth Is Out

Book- Says that Rene attacked Sookie at night and that he attacked her first at her grandmothers house before she fled to the cemetary. It says that even though Sookie stabbed him with his own knife that he had survived, and that he was telling all of his sins to the police.

Show- When Sookie's car wouldn't start, Rene offered to give her a ride home. When Sookie realizes that Rene is the killer she tries to shoot him only to realize that he had emptied the gun of bullets. Rene follows Sookie into the graveyard where he attempts to kill her. Bill tries to save her, but is almost killed by the sun. Sam attacks Rene long enough for Sookie to grab a shovel which leads to Rene's decapitation. Rene attacked Sookie during the day.
