Dear Alex

Updated on August 17, 2011

Dear Alex
I so understand
why you did what you did
why you had to end

This life of despair
this life of pain
the total loneliness
that drives you insane

and misunderstood
while all you were trying
was to make it all good

Unspoken of
you became
black sheep of the family
a woman of shame

Of course it isn’t right
when you have kids
for they stay behind
and it’s you that they miss

But you first made sure
that they were all right
well taken care of
every day and every night

In your despair
you found them a home
and then you left
to be on your own

The loneliness took you
it took you away
for you there was
no brighter day

Locked up in a world
of false pretence
and so you decided
to no longer dance

Dance to the tunes
of the song of pain
where total loneliness
drives you insane

A letter to my great grandmother who just couldn’t face life anymore and commited suicide.

Thank you Ubani. I felt I had to write about her since the rest of the family really keeps quiet about her. She was a wonderful woman with many talents but severely misunderstood and she really felt she had no way out. And at times I can understand that feeling even though I would never take that step.

      Love and hugs

A tribute to your grand mom though sad. I pray you find peace that so much eludes. This life is really vanity but a godly life is worth the try. Great poem.

You're risking losing this follower for your writing is SOOOO beautiful, sad and so RAW that I find myself in tears when reading it. I guess that's a sign of a true writer and I'll invest in tissues and continue to read and cry.
