Death of the Written Word

Updated on July 6, 2012

What Have They Done ?

The Written word on hubpages

where have you gone ?

You been left out alone

the others have won

You were like a tiger

Majestic and strong

I thought you would last

forever..and be there so long

Now a hub draws.. few comments

deserted like a pond.

A change in the format

they tried to wave a magic wand.

Only one last bright flash

then the sweet flower.... is dead

now the written words....

will just stay in my head.

Michael, that's a nice sharp poem, love your satirical approach, don't take these new formats to heart, I'm sure it's just a seasonal fling. Stay well and never stop writing, your poetry is beautiful always! =)

I have noticed some decrease on the number of hubber responses, but have credited it to summer vacations/break. Hang in there, friend.

Hi Michael, I believe you're not the only one feeling like this. But, it should not stop you from achieving what you desire in terms of writing. Take care :-)

@ christen, i wrote this as a satire on the new format of hubpages. it seems like the change has made many people stop writing all the great poetry that used to flood the pages. it is real quiet now compared to what it used to be. maybe because it is summer?

      thanks for the comments.

The cry of an unappreciated artist. This poem is really good. I don't think there's a writer out there who hasn't felt the same.
