Decisions

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Decisions in life design our path,

create inroads to new horizons,

or replicate well-worn destinations.

From logic, emotions and intuition

we choose our movement,

with the spectre of fate ever-present.

Rarely are we certain of our choices,

the element of chance often seen and accepted,

and in the end filled with regret.

There is no perfect decision,

only a better set of outcomes,

perhaps with less pain but with little to learn.

Our roads are varied and under the guise of intensity,

may appear worse than they are,

and alternatively seem easier without consequence.

However, what the soul needs,

for growth and understanding,

is often disregarded out of hand.

Little in life is as it seems,

and the mind is filled with self-delusion,

its own agenda.

The best decisions in life,

are not necessarily the easiest,

but come from a place between mind and soul.

What the mind perceives,

is guided by what the soul requires,

and those decisions can change lives for the better.

It is not easy to see the periphery of a conscious mind,

let alone connect to our essence,

our intended path in life.

But with a serene mind in focus,

need becomes more obvious,

and decision becomes less of a burden.

In maintaining a loving heart we accept life

on every level of purpose,

and begin to see and feel the directions

of which transform our understanding.

In the end, decisions are not burdens,

but crossroads from which we choose

the circumstances of our experience.

Awareness is the first step

to molding a future we both want and need.

I hesitated at "regret" for yes there are many times we could have made wiser choices, and there is bad luck as well as good luck, but if something was simply "the luck of the draw," why regret at that point? I like materials which make me think, and you crafted one. Thanks.
