Delays - a short inspirational poem about the inconvenience of delays in the light of God's agenda

Updated on August 13, 2015

Sometimes there may be road blocks along the way

Road blocks happen!
Road blocks happen!

The demanding pace of life we live

With the myriads of opportunities, options and advancements now open to us living in the 21st Century, comes an unrelenting and demanding pace of life. Schedules full up. Little time for spontaneity or unplanned interruptions. Often unforeseen opportunities and challenges that present themselves inevitably put further pressure on our time and commitments ... and as for delays ... there is most likely zero tolerance, and at best, annoyance, frustration and yet more pressure.

God, however, is on a different time schedule and has a higher agenda ... namely, His perfect plans and purpose for our life.

This short poem is about seeing more from His higher eternal perspective.

The annoyance of delays and interruptions!

'We are not amused!'
'We are not amused!'

DELAYS

In the midst of our busy important lives

We haven't got time for delays

Yet God in His wisdom and grace and love

Allows them to teach us His ways

For although we live in an instant world

God's timing is different to ours

He is working in you

Things Eternal and true

Which the power of His Spirit endows

I'm reminded of an old joke....if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. I think you did a much better job of saying it. :)

I think of the words "Be still and know that I am God." His timing is always perfect. Wonderful poem!

I loved it. We all need to slow down and enjoy life.
