Deprived Ones

Updated on January 25, 2012

Harem Beauty And The Eunuch

Growing up inside me, fast really fast

I don’t know how to react

It’s something I’ll never know, something I was seized to know

I conceal,

I don't know what I’m missing.

Growing up inside me

Your skin, smoother than silk

Bathed in honey, sweet for the sultan

You set the sand on fire make water inflammable

Burning me up, but I will never know

Growing up inside of me

It will remain there.

I want her closer to me

Close, fingers folding, closer

Closer, closer, closer

Can’t get close enough

I was seized to know

Your beauty I can only dream

Your skin I can only touch the surface

Inside of you hides the rest of me

Growing up inside of me

I will live, I will die, I will burn

I will never know

Close, closer, closer, close

Your skin smoother than silk...

Yes, in medieval Persia, Sultans used to appoint guards for their Harem(where they kept women). These guards were castrated, so that they would not end up having sex with the Sultan's women.

Is this poem about the castrated men in sultan palaces where they kept women?
