Discovery Without Fear

Updated on May 18, 2012

Where confusion robs consciousness
Is in the choosing
Of the wrong mask
A rapacious avatar
To live the life of meaningless existence

Is it better to be nothing
With nothing
But freedom
And the need
For nothing but your true essence?

To follow a path set before you
By those who thought they understood
But cannot live your life
Creates the bond
To perpetual acquiescence

We who know of these things
Yet follow in your path
Continue to discover
Again and again
The cold pale rot of ambivalence

And in the final awakening
Shedding all that we know
Returning to the womb
To choose the time of our rebirth
We break water in your presence

Water becomes tears becomes love
And becomes you
To carve your path
No matter the obstacle
No matter the resistance

      And in the final awakening

      Shedding all that we know

      Returning to the womb

To choose the time of our rebirth

@Berga - I tire of people who are aggressive in the way they negatively influence our lives; bullys of all ages exist and they prey on others. I say forget them. Be yourself. You have nothing to apologize for and certainly do not answer to them. It is time to cleanse our minds and become who we are.

@Deborah - thank you once again for being so nice to me... I never know where these things are going to go when I start them. I'm glad you liked it. It was prompted by a friend who is going through a divorce and is facing some confusion and self-examination; possibly some confidence problems which I of course do not have because I have a gigantic problem with delusion! Ha....

@Story - thank you for saying that. My feeling is this: no matter your age, no matter your past, no matter the opinion of others, no matter who you were... you have the chance to be who you want to be today. It's the encouragement to not give others the power to define who you are....

@Berga - thank you. Yes it is about reinventing yourself if need be... don't stay in one place and for sure don't let anyone put you there or keep you there.

@rahul - Yes it is about personal power. Take charge. Be who you are and stop worrying about what others think. Not to do wrong but to do what is right... FOR YOU!

      @swb - Thank you!

Your poem brings to me a sense of power... a fearless spirit moves all across the poem motivating and engaging the reader all along!

One can only discover his inner strengths when he takes the needed risks...

      Great poetry! Epic

This hits home so directly as to arrow my heart. I am in this place of discernment, struggling to define my own path versus the path set by others. This poem is best read again and again, to discover its depth and breadth and hope. It offers the promise of rediscovery and I am all over that.
