Do Not Open This

Updated on August 4, 2017

If you are reading this, then you must be one who doesn't mind breaking a rule here and there. All of us are probably guilty of breaking a rule or two. Some of us may have broken plenty throughout life. I am guilty of breaking rules from time to time and continue to as an adult. I decided to have fun with rule breaking with a poem that came to mind. I do not suggest you go out and break rules. Warning read this poem at your own discretion. And I hope you enjoy it and have a little fun with it as well.

Do not open, says the sign above me

I decided to open, against the powers that maybe

Do not push that button, but it is so red and bright

I pushed it, I could not resist the meager little fight

Do not hang on the railing, it is dangerous for you

I hung out for a few minutes and then I was through

Do not touch the oven, it is very hot

A devious smile I gave, while I listened not

Do not stand on ledge, a fall could await you

I stood on the ledge, and admired the view

Please take one, but no one is around to watch

I took a few, and then I took the rest of the batch

Please do not talk, it will disturb the others around

But the secret will get lost, and later might not be found

Please turn phone off, it is rude for the others

But I do not want to miss a call, even from my mother

Do not swim in fountain, for it is just for art

I swam and splashed, I was a kid at heart

No parking, for your vehicle may get towed

I'll only be a second, and two hours later I showed

Please do not feed the animals, we feed them at night

Handing a chicken nugget to the monkey proved no fight

I am sure there are many signs of rules that exist and many they will make

But I am sure I will be guilty for the rules I will probably break

Cool poem man. I've had my car towed three times. Some rules are dumb, lol.

This was a lot of fun and reminded me of an employee who worked in one of the highway tunnels at the transportation department. The tunnels go underwater in the congested Hampton Roads area in Virginia. There is no good way to get from the shore to Richmond and other areas without going through those tunnels. Well, there was a big button that had a prominent sign that said "Do Not Push Button." Out of curiosity the employee decided to push it and closed both tunnels down so that traffic came to a halt for many hours. True story.

Well done Ryan. A favorite thing in my life is learning and learning the rules so that I can break them with aplomb lack of consequence.

Civil disobedience of any scale invigorates me.

      Thanks

I enjoyed this, fun. We all break the rules, after all, how dull life would be without breaking a few.

Oh Ryan you rascal you! I think this is pretty much human nature; don't we think the rules are for "the other guys"? Thanks for lightening up a dull Friday afternoon.
