Dodging the Dog Blues

Updated on May 27, 2017

Just howling at the moon, a little out of tune,

I'm sitting here and picking, out my sad song.

Like an old hound dog wailing, all's now failing,

Every attempt to get ahead and I'm all wrong.

Refrain:

I've got those dodging the dog blues,

I'm Just putting back a few tall brews.

Ain't got a thing, nothing more to lose

Not looking for a job, ain't got no clues.

Thought about moving so far out of town,

looking for new jobs, what's going round.

Can't make up my mind, get left behind,

The right words to a song, I just can't find.

Refrain:

I've got those dodging the dog blues,

I'm just putting back a few tall brews.

Ain't got a thing, nothing more to lose,

Not looking for a job, ain't got no clues.

Don't like that old grey bus, it makes me cuss,

Hate to travel, stop in every town, such a fuss.

I'd rather walk, not have to talk, to find my way,

Have a little self-respect just like I had yesterday.

Refrain:

I've got those dodging the dog blues,

I'm just putting back a few tall brews.

Ain't got a thing, nothing more to lose,

Not looking for a job, ain't got no clues.

Met a good friend on my front porch just today,

Told me about a job and it was not too far away.

Looks like I'm in, I'm climbing up, trying to mend,

Shaking off those hound dog blues, once again.

Refrain:

Ain't got those dodging the dog blues,

Got everything, nothing more to lose.

Now it's time for just a little good news,

Found a way back home, I can't refuse.

Now it's time for just a little good news,

Found a way back home. I can't refuse.

Now ain't got those dodging the dog blues.
