Don't Touch That Dial

Updated on October 11, 2012

It Is Really Not That Cold

Just another conversation between husband and wife

The temperature in the house is 62 degrees

Outside it is in the 50's

Too early to put the heat on

With oil and gas prices so high

We try tio save where we can

The electric heat is so expensive

Throw on a sweater or a sweatshirt if you feel slightly cool

Every year we have our closet full

From clothes to blankets

We slide them from side to side

Are we to lazy to grab a blanket or a quilt

During the day the house temperature is 65

The sun from outside warms us up

It is only at night the teperature drops

We put up heavier curtains and drapes to make our home warmer

Some people put plastic on old windows to keep the cold air out

We took the air conditioners out of the windows to eliminate the draft

Put the storm windows down were the screens once were

We have a portable Vornado heater that we turn on to kill the chill

That seems to do the trick

It is only the the 12th of October and we have November,December,January and finally February

By then the winter will be over and done

I wonder how much oil or gas for heat will be used and the money we will spend

Over One thousand dollars I am sure

Wait and see

Most of all we want to keep warm and safe

Sharing tips from one homeowner to another

When the Fall finally turns to winter

We all try to do our best to keep what little money we have left

Voted up. You said it. I say during the cold season grab your loved one and do a lot of cuddling and sharing of warm kisses. Save a lot of money that way.

Sweaters, slippers, robes, baking, maybe just a tad longer in the shower and best of all snuggling. Keep that dial turned down.

Your home describes ours as well. We burn much wood and grab the heavy clothing.

I am not a Winter girl, Spring and Summer are my favorites and I will be more than happy to see the colder weather move on out.
