fear not the ghosts .............poem

Updated on September 12, 2015

I have seen this young boy over and over
all through this life
this ghost of a little brother
we have played we have grown
cried and loved

I've smiled as he played there on
the linen colored soft
billowing clouds
and swam with him in the
beautiful sea the one
he had never seen

I've spoken to him in the same rooms
and listened as he
spoke to me
insanity is but an altered vision and I say
just let my insanity be

If ghosts are what some of us need
then who are you to question
for don't we owe those who have
gone before us
the grace of recognition

Never fear the ghosts my friend because
they need us
just the same
if a ghost is who we all are to become
then why fear a ghost at all

we all must face our ghosts as well as our demons I suppose. Great poem/story.

Fantastic poem Ed. I fear no ghosts because I feel them, see them, hear them and I'm not alone because of them.

What a strange notion indeed it is to fear ghosts. It must be made of literature for it certainly is not made of real deep thought. When my son asked me yesterday if "spirits" were real. What could I say but yes. And the inevitable "why" question came and the answer was obvious -- to help guide us somehow.

This poem gave me the warm fuzzies.

I feel that you were thinking about your brother. Seeing him playing in the clouds, such joy! I have many ghosts to see someday and the thought makes me happy. Loved this!

This is a wonderful piece of poetry Ed. Lovely sentiment and memories, and I agree why fear ghosts if they are of our loved and departed, and what we too may one day become.
