Dreams Of Yesterday (poem)

Updated on June 6, 2013

Within me flows those moments far away

Where dreams were blossoms waiting for the morn

And every wish upon a smile was born

Then drift into another yesterday

-

Each kiss of hope a wonder from her eyes

The world I knew was flowing in her song

And every minute Joy would tag along

As yesterday would gain new paradise

-

Here was the reason that my heart beat for

The promise of a lifetime in a kiss

And every dear and precious gift is this

A treasure washed on yesterday’s sweet shore

-

Now every day is filled with endless strains

Confusing are the rivers near my smile

Reliving yet another tender while

As yesterday is all which now remains

Yesterdays will hopefully bring sweet tomorrows and hopefully one does not live in yesterday. Truly touching poem that makes one reflect...on yesterday and today.

Having precious memories of yesterday compels us to move forward and create new ones as each day goes by. Nice poem, Martin.

So poignant and so easy to identify with, dear Martin.

And sometimes I wonder if those longing glimpses at the past give a true picture of those days or if they are what I had wished for all along....

As always, this was captivating to the end. Voted up up and away ...and shared. Angels are on the way ps

Mhatter99....Yes the dreams of yesterday should be the promises of a better tomorrow...depends on how we perceive the dream...something obviously is going on in your life of late, as your last few writes show it....been reminiscing of late ?

Wow, Mhatter! I have read mostly your limericks, which are quite entertaining. This poem is entertaining in a totally different way. The poem is beautiful, as is the photo. And the video is so haunting. Well done! Many votes!
