Dropped Marbles

Updated on August 22, 2012

His marbles dropped
long ago.
Unaware of the drop
they scattered everywhere
under the chairs, tables,.
the stove, the refrigerator,
and cars,

years later
he's trying to
regather them.

Some are missing,
forever gone.
Others gathered
are cracked,
chipped, dull,,
only a few
are somewhat
shiny and intact.

The marble sack
is now light
and not
what it used to be.

But those left
are guarded, nourished
and well care for.
The owner knows
how perish
each marble is.
He loves them
passionately and dearly.
Never to be
forsaken again.
Partners til death
and beyond.

      how perish

      each marble is.

I think you precious each marble is...

Sometimes the brain fills in words, even when logically you know that wasn't the word you wanted at happens to me alot when I write poetry.
