Drunken Quotes I'm Well Known For

Updated on September 15, 2013

In a state........of reflection.

Not so much these days but in recent times I have been known to enjoy an alcoholic beverage, or two, or three even. Yeah yeah and the rest.
Whilst in a state of reflection, we shall call it, I am well known to invent sayings which describe the mood of the time. The only problem in doing this is that it stays with you for a long time and people never let you forget it. (Only too glad to give people a laugh at my expense).

I can't put my finger on when I first started doing it. Perhaps it was three, maybe four years ago.

On warm summer nights the family and I love to sit out in the back garden of our home until late. It has been known for me to stay out there until three or four in the morning so long as I can get volunteer drinkers to keep me company.

My Quotes

Our favourite place to sit and enjoy family time and a good drink is by the fish pond I built around seven years ago.

Yes yes Steve, that's all very well, but what about the quotes?

Here goes...............................................................................

Life is like a rollercoaster. ( meaning it has highs and lows)

I've got my family round me. ( the saying of one very proud father and family man)

I'm sick of you. ( joke saying when someone puts me down or embarrasses me)

i'm not happy with your attitude ( this one works well with kids when getting cheeky)

We're just at the beginning ( another proud dad quote to his sons)

It's brightening up ( this I usually say when it is pitch dark and looking like rain when everybody is looking like going in for the evening.Never know when to stop)

Your my favourite ( has been said to both my sons from a young age when they agree with what I say....which is not very often. The look on the face when you say it is a picture. I have the two best sons anyone could wish for.)

Do what you want you usually do ( this I say to family when they ask for advice. I say this after I have given my verdict on the question.....Why? Because of the face which get's pulled if the person asking the question doesn't want to hear the answer you have. Does this sound familiar?

Summertime sessions.

All of the above quotes usually come out of the top drawer as it were when our family visit from Leeds. We spend a lot of time sitting out around the pond on a warm summer evening. The later we stay out, the more the quotes are heard. I must stress here that I do use the same quotes even when sober, but they just don't seem to have the same effect.

What you have to remember is that it is usually late when the quotes start coming out and after copious amounts of whisky being drunk. It is my way of making people realise how proud I am of my family and what they have and are achieving at the start of their adult lives. My two sons are going to be very successful in their chosen fields and are well rounded young men.

My eldest is planning a wedding in 2013 to a very nice young lady. This will be a great occasion to have some more quotes perfected and it will be a very emotional day watching my boy at the start of his own adventure in life. This is where the saying We're just at the beginning comes from. The anticipation of the two sons going off on their own, but being in a position to carry on the family name into future generations is a powerful thought.

Check back in on a regular basis and I will update you on new quotes as well as the ones which I have probably long forgotten. No doubt when people who know me read this hub they will remind me.

Hahah I loved your drunken quotes! My favorite and one I use often is "You're my favorite". I say it to one of three daughters and then add "but don't tell your sisters..."

Hey, posh! GREAT HUB! GREAT IN EVERY WAY! In my drinking days, I had some very insightful quotes. People tell me. But those people who DO remember what I said or either dead or moved off. Just when I wanted to know what I said that was so wise. LOVE YOUR WORK.

Although I am in recovery, I can relate. My favorite is when you tell your kids they are your favorite when they agree with you. I'll have to use that one. Congrats on your son's impending marriage.

I must say after a few or quite a few to come up with quotes and to remember them you've got quite a talent. I drink very rarely and when there is something to celebrate if I imbibe a wee bit too much I certainly don't want to remember the thoughts I'm having. Great hub!

The Karma that you expel in this hub is beautiful. And you are far from the only lush in Britain. I am in the North and regularly tipsy on vodka of a Saturday evening. So chin chin darrling, he he.

I can relate to this. One tipsy quote that a member of my family is famous for is 'I bought a rough and ready chicken' instead of ' I bought an oven ready chicken' We knew what she meant of course :)

It is often told in Nepal, when you are drunk you speak fluent English. This is so because many people after having couple of swigs get confidence to speak the alien language. I loved and enjoyed your drunken quotes.
