Dry Grass

Updated on June 18, 2014
Source

All of us go through periods of dryness. These are times when we are like dry grass, nourished by mutual support, listening ears and prayer.

Chevelle-Emotional Drought

How do you cope with emotional drought?

See results

Grass,
Dry,
Blades parched,
Roots withered,
Lack life-giving rain
That turns them to a verdant green

Grass
Tries
To reach
For the rain
That drenches with love
And cares that let's blades stand upright

Grass
Still
Rustles
In the wind
Brown blades that listen
To other brown blades gaunt and dry

Grass
Leans
Against
Others parched
Allow shriveled blades
To rest their frayed and withered souls

Brown
Blades
Turn green
As they droop
Bowing with God's breath
Wind that colors them with green life.

A lovely metaphor, Michelle. Emotional dry periods? I don't think I have them any longer, not since I resurrected almost eight years ago. :)

I stay positive and keep the faith. Go for long nature walks. Passing this on.

Such a nice poem! I like the way you associated the emotions with suggestive pictures.

A supportive family is a great help to cope with such situations. Prayers give you strength and hope that everything will be fine. Because just as the good days do not remain always, even the bad days will pass soon.

      Nice hub! Voted up!

I love this poem. We all go through these periods of dryness but thankfully the nurturing rain does eventually come and feed our souls. Voted up and awesome.

I think everyone goes through a "dry spell" every now and then. We just can't allow ourselves to remain this way!

We have to take positive action to get back on the right track.

      Voted UP.

Lovely poem and such good images and metaphors. It's something that seems to happen periodically to everyone and I love the way you have written about it and the advice on how to overcome it, too. God bless you.

Lovely Michelle and food for thought. To be honest I'm not great at coping with dry spells. Waiting for the refreshing rain. Thanks for the reminder. Voting
