Updated on May 29, 2015

AND THERE CAME A DAY, A DAY UNLIKE ANY OTHER. WHEN THREE FRIENDS ROSE FROM THEIR DOOM TO FIGHT ON, VOWING NEVER AGAIN TO GIVE IN TO THE FORCES OF EVIL. ON THAT DAY, E.G.G WAS REBORN. AND THERE CAME A DAY AFTER THAT DAY. A DAY WHEN THE THREE FRIENDS WOULD FINALLY FACE THEIR FINAL BATTLE. THAT DAY WILL FOREVER BE KNOWN, AS THE DARK DAY.

Previously, on E.G.G...

Agent Rice arrived in E.G.G Base to reveal his gruesome mission and a shocking secret: That Eileen was Lightstream, and he was tasked by Nick Fury to kill her the next time she lost control of her Extremis induced powers. Finding a third option, the eggheads traveled to New York to see if Reed Richards of the Fantastic 4 could help Eileen with her problem. It was there that they all discovered another secret: Eileen was a mutant. However, in order to keep Eileen from losing control, her mutant side had o be eradicated. But her mutant side, who had developed her own personality, had other plans. Now reborn as Darkstream, Eileen killed Agent Rice and took to the skies. Josh and Acacia now know two things. They have to stop their best friend, and E.G.G is gone.

Darkstream soared above the skies. She flew across the country, and finally stopped in the air. She slowly descended into Rexburg, Idaho. She landed in an abandoned field, with acres and acres grass. She began to walk when she stepped on something. She picked it up, a large chunk of metal, one of the many skipped over pieces during the cleanup of Mother Egg. She rubbed it.

“I was born here.” She said, her voice still sounding as if it were two in one. “This is where I came to be. Mother Egg. It is gone now.” She crunched the metal. “Time for a new life, a new world!” She reached back and untied her medical gown, dropping it to the ground. Then she held her hand into the sky and red lightning rained down around her.

“Hahahaha!” She laughed, as she was slowly covered in a new suit. It was completely different, and completely evil. It was a black suit with red gloves, boots, belt, and shorts. She had on a black eye mask with glowing red lenses, and a red lightning streak across her chest. “Death and destruction shall reign supreme in my new world order! Darkstream is born!” Suddenly she heard a noise. She turned, but saw nothing. Ignoring it, she flew into the sky, held out her hands, and began to burn the field. A few yards away, hiding behind a barn house, was Director Maria Hill, Clay Quartermain, and three other S.H.I.E.L.D agents. Hill loaded her gun.

“Alright, here’s the plan,” she said. “Quartermain, I need you and Dugan to lay down some cover fire. Get her attention.”

“You got it Hill.” Quartermain replied.

“Sharon, I want you and Gabriel to circle around back and see if you can get the drop on her. Shoot to kill.”

“Confirmed.” Sharon responded.

“I’m going to position myself on top of the barn and take the sniper shot.”

“I don’t think you should be out in the open like this.” Gabriel replied. “It’s too dangerous.”

“Yeah,” Dugan said. “We lost one director, we ain’t lookin’ to lose another.”

“I’m flattered, all of you.” She said. “But we’re S.H.I.E.L.D. And we’ve got a job to do.”

“Amen to that.” Quartermain said. “Let’s put this puppy on ice.” The five agents moved in on Darkstream. Darkstream, flying above the fields, paused, then smiled.

The E.G.G Jet soared through the sky. Josh was piloting with Jocasta as copilot. Acacia sat in the back, focusing intently on a radar.

“She stopped!” She called out to Josh.

“Where?” Josh asked.

“Homing in on ID card now: She’s in Rexburg.”

“I guess Darkstream wants to go home.” Josh said. He shook his head. “We gotta stop her.”

“Josh,” Acacia said. “It’s still Eileen. We can’t kill her.”

“I’m not saying we have to.” Josh said. “We just have to get through to her.”

“What if you cannot.” Jocasta said. Josh looked at her.

“We’re not thinking about that Jocasta.” He said.

“This may seem insensitive, but I now understand what Ultron meant when he programmed me. Human emotions cloud judgment.”

“You’re right, that is insensitive.” Acacia said angrily.

“I am simply stating that Eileen has already taken two lives and may be beyond reason.”

“She’s not.” Josh said. “I know she’s in there. Eileen is strong, she can fight this.”

The E.G.G Jet flew, and half an hour later, they reached Rexburg. Josh sat up.

“Acacia, you seeing this!” Acacia looked out the window.

“Oh man…” She said. A fire had risen and was engulfing a good portion of the city. People were evacuating, running for their lives.

“This ends now!” Josh said. “Jocasta, where is she?”

“She is above the city.” Josh looked to see Darkstream floating above the fire, smiling.

“What is she wearing?” Acacia asked.

“We’ll worry about that later. Jocasta, find us a spot to land.”

* * *

Everyone in E.G.G Base sat crowded the monitors in the Inner Shell, intently watching various news casts covering the fire in Idaho. Allyson and Agent Becket walked in.

“What’s going on?” She asked.

“There’s some kind of super villain in Idaho.” Harry replied. “Whoever she is, she’s burning it to the ground. Military showed up, but they can’t touch her. No word from S.H.I.E.L.D or the Avengers. We’ve tried to contact Maria Hill but…”

“It’s Director Westbrook!” An agent shouted. Everyone focused on the screen as the camera zoomed in on Josh, Acacia, and Jocasta exiting the E.G.G Jet. Everyone cheered. Allyson gasped.

“Josh…” She said. She took off. Agent Becket looked back.

“Hey, Allyson!” He ran after her. She rushed into Josh’s room, grabbed his Joshinator Armor 2.0, then rushed out. She walked up to a door and scanned her ID, opening it. She walked in and flipped a switch, activating the entire room. In the center was a glass circle on the ground and a teleporter hanging from the ceiling. Agent Becket grabbed her shoulder.

“Hey, what are you doing?” He asked.

“Josh is in trouble Beck.” She said.

“So? In case you didn’t notice, you guys are through.”

“Yeah, I know. And I’m still mad but… but I still have feelings for him. And I can’t sit by and watch him die.”

“He’s fine! He’s the director of E.G.G!”

“He’s fine? Really? He has no weapons, no backup, and I don’t even know where Eileen is. The military couldn’t stop that girl Beck, whoever she is. What makes you think Josh can?”

“Allyson, you don’t know what’s down there.”

“And neither does Josh.” She replied. She sighed. “Beck, I can’t sleep. I can’t function. All I feel is emptiness in my stomach. Loss. I’m not saying I’m gonna go falling back into his arms, but I need him to know how I feel. Every time he goes into the field there’s a chance he may not come back. I don’t want to wait for that possibility. He needs to know.” Agent Becket shook his head.

“Okay, fine, but even so, the E.G.G Base teleporter hasn’t even been fully tested yet! Your molecules could scramble in transit.”

“It passed preliminaries. It’s going to be fine.”

“Allyson, you know your safety is my number one priority, in life.”

“Oh Beck, I know.” She said. She rubbed his hair. “We were meant to protect each other, from the day I found you in that foster home. But I promise you, I’m going to be okay. It’s not that far off, and I’ll only be there long enough to drop off Josh’s armor. I need to do this. Kay Beck?” He nodded. Allyson kissed him on the cheek. “Good. Now can you activate this for me?”

“Right.” Agent Becket rushed over to the terminal and activated the teleporter. “Setting destination…” He typed on the keyboard. “And you are go.” He gave her the thumbs up. “Be careful Allyson.” She smiled.

“I will. Thank you Beck.” She stepped into the teleporter, and was gone.

Jocasta had flown off to help with evacuation. Josh and Acacia stepped through the field. Josh picked his way around fire and debris. Then he stopped.

“Acacia…” He said, pointing. She looked and saw a pile of S.H.I.E.L.D badges and little pieces of stone everywhere.

“Oh no,” Acacia said. “Looks like S.H.I.E.L.D already got here…”

“And failed.” Josh said, picking up the badges. “Oh geez, these are big names. Dum Dum Dugan, Gabriel Jones, Sharon Carter…”

“Those guys were level 8 agents!” Acacia said. She stopped and looked to see that she was standing on a badge. She picked it and gasped. “Clay…” She said, tears coming to her eyes. Josh was altered.

“Quartermain?” He asked. Acacia solemnly nodded, and clutched the badge close to her chest. Josh looked at the last badge in his hands. He sighed. “Maria Hill.” He said, laying all of them on the ground. “Eileen’s lost it. We’ve got to end this before anyone else dies.”

“How?” Acacia asked. “She killed five agents and she’s currently burning the city to ground, I don’t think she’s interested in anything we have to say.” Josh looked up.

“Then we make her listen.” He said. He took out his Thwip Blaster, aimed, and launched a web blast into the air. It soared, then splatted in Darkstream’s face. She pulled it off and looked down. Josh put the Thwip Blaster away. “EILEEN!” He called. She flew down and landed in front of him and Acacia.

“Eileen is dead.” She said. “As you are about to be.”

“Give us our friend back, now.” Acacia demanded.

“She has lived a full life.” Darkstream said. “While I, on the other hand, was confined to a prison within her body from day one. I wish to live. I wish to feel. I wish to experience all the pleasures of life as she did.”

“How are you gonna do that if you’re burning the world to the ground!” Josh shouted.

“I am recreating it in my image. I am going to live the life I create for myself, not some predetermined existence based on fate and chance.”

“You’re going to kill everyone and destroy everything just so you can have a good time?” Acacia asked.

“I am simply trying to get the most out of life.” She said. “Starting with the ideal world. My own personal planet, all to myself. A beautiful concept, isn’t it?”

“Life is no good without friends,” Josh said. “Without people who care about you.”

“Well, seeing as how you are begging me to enslave myself to Eileen once again.” Darkstream said, beginning to levitate. “It is clear you are not those people.” Her hands lit up.

“Down!” Acacia shouted. Josh got behind her and Acacia put up a force field as Darkstream shot a menacing blast of red lighting at them. Acacia began sweating.

“Hold it!” Josh shouted.

“I… can’t…” Acacia cried. Suddenly it shattered and Josh and Acacia were launched back.

“Time to die!” Darkstream shouted. Suddenly there was a blue flash of light, and Allyson jumped out of the teleporter beam.

“Josh!” She shouted, tossing him his armor. Josh jumped up and it attached itself to his back, then began to cover him. He held his hands out and blasted two lasers at Darkstream.

“Gah!” She shouted. “Fool!” Josh continued to fire, but she put up a shield. Acacia launched a stream of fire at her, but she caught it in her hands. “Do you wish to know the extent of my power!” She screamed. She mentally lifted a barrage of rocks and hurled them at Josh and Acacia.

“Go!” Josh shouted to Allyson, as Acacia put up a force field. Allyson nodded, turned and ran. Josh recharged his lasers. “We gotta subdue her.”

“That’s a shell of a lot easier said than done!” Acacia shouted. Suddenly the force field shattered. Acacia and Josh began to run from the rock shower, but Darkstream was relentless. Suddenly a rock hit Acacia in the leg with a loud crack. “AAAHH!” She screamed, falling to the ground, holding her leg.

“Acacia!” Josh shouted. He began to make way towards her, but was crushed under a giant rock. “Ah!” He shouted, attempting to get it off of him. Darkstream floated down in front of him.

“Do you now realize the futility of you efforts?” She asked. Josh pushed and pushed, but the rock wouldn’t budge.

“Eileen, please, I know you’re in there!” He cried. Darkstream laughed.

“Such a waste of life.” She said. A dark energy blast formed on her hands, and she launched it at Josh. Josh, seeing no way out, closed his eyes.

“No!” Allyson shouted, jumping in the way and getting hit by the blast.

“ALLYSON!” Josh screamed. He flexed his muscles, and with all his might, pushed the rock off of him. He rushed over to Allyson, who was beginning to turn to stone. “No, no, no, no, Allyson… why?” She reached up and touched his cheek.

“I love you.” She said, as she turned into stone, and crumbled to pieces in Josh’s arms.

“Hahahaha!” Darkstream laughed. “Well isn’t that sweet? She sacrificed herself for someone that didn’t even care about her.” Josh clenched his fists. He got up and ran for Darkstream.

“You killed her!” He screamed, charging head on. Darkstream laughed.

“Fool.” She said. She began to charge another blast when Acacia tackled Josh and in a puff of smoke, they both disappeared.

* * *

Josh and Acacia appeared in the Feeding Pen. Josh violently struggled as Acacia held onto him.

“Let me go! Let me go!” He shouted.

“Stop it Josh!” Acacia screamed.

“Let me go!”

“She’s gone Josh! There was nothing you could have done!”

“Shut up! She’s not gone! Let me go!”

“She’s gone! Josh!”

“Let me go!”

“Stop it!” She firmly grabbed his shoulders and shook him. Josh was crying. “She’s gone.”

“She can’t be…” Josh weakly cried. “She can’t be gone…”

“Listen,” Acacia said. “I’ve had more loved ones die in my arms than I can count. I know how you feel. I know it hurts more than anything else in the world. I know… But right now you need to pull it together. Allyson wasn’t the first and she won’t be the last unless we stop Eileen. I understand, your upset, angry, and sad all at the same time, but we need you Josh. The world needs you. Eileen needs you. I need you. Now please, take a deep breath and calm your mind.” Josh took a deep breath. He looked at Acacia.

“How did you…” He began. She unzipped her uniform to reveal a Bamf Vest.

“Never leave without it.” She said. Josh weakly smiled. A tear slid down his cheek.

“Acacia, she said she loved me.”

“I know.” Acacia said. “And if you love her, you have to make sure she didn’t die in vain. Now come on, let’s regroup and make a plan.” He and Acacia walked out of the Feeding Pen. Agent Beckett rushed up to them.

“Allyson! Where’s Allyson?” He desperately asked. Josh closed his eyes.

“She’s gone.” He choked. He cleared his throat. “She’s dead.” Agent Becket shook his head.

“No… No, she can’t…” He looked angrily at Josh, tears in his eyes. “This is your fault! You killed her!” He charged at Josh, but Acacia kicked him in the chest. Agent Becket slammed against the wall and fell unconscious.

“Don’t listen to him.” She said.

“Why not?” Josh asked, walking off. “He’s right.” He walked into the Inner Shell. All of the agents rushed to his aid, and he shooed them away. “I’m fine.” He called. “I need S.H.I.E.L.D. I need Stark. I need anyone. Someone find me some backup, now!” All of the agents got right to work. Harry rushed up.

“Honeybun, are you okay? What’s going on?” He asked Acacia.

“It’s Eileen.” She replied. “She’s lost control of her powers and is trying to destroy the world.”

“Wait, the super villain in Idaho, the one burning it down and killing all those people? It’s Eileen?”

“Yeah, it’s a bad situation.” Acacia said. “And we need to fix it. Go make sure Celeste and the kids are okay. I got work to do.” Harry nodded and rushed off. Acacia looked to see Josh staring up at the vow on the wall:

E.G.G Vow of Justice

We, the Experimental Government Gadgets division of S.H.I.E.L.D, vow that from this day forth, we will not give way to hatred, injustice, or the forces of evil. We will fight until our last breath to protect liberty, freedom, and above all, justice. And we’ll make weapons too!

Joshua Westbrook

Eileen Wuthrich

Acacia Blanco

He gritted his teeth and angrily slammed it with his fist, shattering the frame and knocking it to the ground.

“Has anyone made any progress!” He shouted.

“I’ve got Hawkeye!” An agent called. “He says the West Coast Avengers are ready to help!”

“Good, I wanna talk to him.” Josh replied, walking over. Acacia walked up to the shattered vow on the ground. She knelt down and pulled it out of the frame.

“We won’t give up on you Eileen.” She said, folding it up and putting it in her pocket. “Not yet.” She joined Josh, who was on the phone with Hawkeye, and they began to make their plan.
