"EGO" By Eric Wayne Flynn

Updated on October 2, 2013

Delusioned ideas walk namelessly into the night

Inflated sounds of self, deathening our sight

Blind to truth, smiling sense of pride

Vision-less souls unable to see outside

Identity, a self proclaimed entity, creation of one

Existential payoff, double indemnity, acknowledgment of none

Mental clouds deflect the shine of empathy

Walk the unaffected path of the righteous, sans sympathy

Plumed bodies reveal contrived exhibitions in the street

Vanity's value stains the soul with hideous conceit

Understand and accept this axis rotates in spite of us

Revolving and evolving long after we turn to dust

We are central, we are the same, we are all things, matter

I am weak, i am strong, i am right , i am wrong, blather

One is all, one is us, one is the only

Choose to walk alone? EGO is lonely

Intense, and still well-paced, not hurrying to thematic frustration. Reminds me of Steinbeck. Thumbs up.
