Eat Your Words

I live a few miles from the ocean, with my husband and our 3 boys. I always make an effort to spread kindness and light wherever I go.

What if we could consume words and take on their characteristics – to thrive and flourish through even the greatest adversities? Ah, to swallow excitement just to feel it course through our veins, invigorating us! Are we not worthy to munch on fun and sun and happiness? Why shouldn't we have eternity available for our consumption? I think we could all use a steaming mug of hope and a heaping scoop of love. From the soil grows beauty and wonder, strength, miracles, life.

I don't know where or why or how, but sadness has taken a bite of me. It just loves to swallow me whole and feel me sliding helplessly down its throat – exploring its bare inner surfaces of pain, fear, and loneliness.

So eat it before it eats you. Nibble on a nice slice of destiny, or take a long swallow of cool, refreshing knowledge. Serve your guests a steaming bowl of amazement with a big, shiny, silver ladle. Get it while it's hot, eat it while it's warm, and wash it all down with a frosty glass of madness.
