Ebb Tide

Late afternoons...sunsets,

Patiently watching as the sun goes down

Reflecting broken skies

into fire-orange brushes;

Naming coloured clouds

Exuding shapes, forming differently

we sat leaning dependently

You on my shoulders and I on yours.

The waters shyly retreated

To where they hid, we always wondered;

An ebb tide giving us a welcome mantle

Stepping and leaving

molded footprints

into the warmth of fine, soft gray mud;

From end to end silently strolling

Hand-in-hand, foot sailing against

the vanishing clear waters

Always was an air filled with

romance.

Back to calmness

My empty body faked unconsciousness

Freeing its soul to wander the singing sands

of what was once

a beautiful time of an ebb tide

So tranquil, so serene

when your feet set prints next to mine.

      Mere words as magical as your

      photos I do reply

      The sun the sea the yearning

      colors of the sky

      But then the combination

      loving and lasting

      Such are the words the poet

      is casting

      Awesome words my dear !

      Pearldiver, what a lovely message you've left me. You brought a smile to my face, perhaps my face lit up too. :)

      Thank you so much and take care also.

      Nicely done, with excellent imagery and a hint of unsureness within the journey... If you wrote this 20 years ago then you really should have pursued your writing over that time, as this example supports the reasons why... I hope you write many more and that they come from the same place in your heart... thanks for the opportunity to read your works.. take care.. PD

      How I wish to be living fronting the sea or lake, picklesandrufus! And I'd see everything before the horizon...sunrise, sunset, laughing waves, seagulls, swans, white sands and ebb tide when the moon is high. Glad that this hub had glided you to a peaceful, beautiful space! Thank you picklesandrufus for your visit. :)

      Must be a beautiful memory, always exploring. It is cool to see our very own footprints in the sand just as beautiful as anybody's footprint. Even the dog and bird prints fascinate me. Thank you once again!

      Finding the word "exquisite" here already makes me so happy, Faith Reaper. Thank you for all the votes you've given to my hubs and to this one too. And "except funny"...this makes me laugh. The word "funny" is still useful each time I see it, as long as it contributes to "smile" lines on my face. *big smile* ...much love ~Tess

      Tess,

      There are no buttons to press for exquisite!!! Oh, my, how lovely in both word and your outstanding photos. I love the message, powerful but brings a peaceful serenity. Voted Way Up again, except funny.

      aviannovice, thank you so much. As I remember, I wrote this poem when I was 20, up on a hill though, not at a sandy shore, but wishing that I would witness sunset where I sat with my little notebook. These photos are just recent...sunset in west of Ontario.
