Embarrassing Moment (Limerick)

Updated on August 11, 2012

Embarrassing Moment: Setting The Background

You are walking down the street in a big city, such as New York City or Los Angelos. There are people everywhere, but you do not seem to notice. The Limerick starts now...

Did That Really Just Happen?

You are walking cheerfully down the street

Without a care in the world you must meet

So you begin daydreaming

A tune you start singing

And then it happens, trip over your feet

Laughter is the best medicine!

Embarrassing Moments: Has This Ever Happened To You?

This above scenario has happened to me before. It hasn't been in New York City, thank goodness! This limerick was constructed for two purposes. One, just for a good laugh. But, two to poke some fun at ourselves. Can you think of a time in your life when you were embarrassed? If so, please share in the comments! Laughter is the best medicine! So, why not laugh at ourselves sometimes? When embarrassing moments happen in my life, I try to play it off and join in the laughter.

I will start off by sharing an experience in my life. I had just arrrived back at college after having been gone for the summer. I was walking by someone who I was friends with. We hung out several times the previous school year and had a blast together. The student waved and said, "Hey Josh!" as he was walking towards me. My response was, "Heyyyy....." (Yes, I had forgotten his name!) I played it off by asking him how his summer went and the whole series of questions we always ask people we haven't seen in a while. (I am going to go off on a bunny trail for a moment here, if you do not mind...You do not mind? Great! Here goes! Why do we always ask these questions? The answers are always, "Oh it was great!" Or, "It was awesome, thanks." You get my drift, anways, that is all I wanted to say. Thanks for letting me go off subject for a minute, you are the best!) Fortunately, shortly thereafter, I remembered his name again.

Have you thought of an embarrassing moment in your life to share with us?

Embarrassing Moments: Celebrities

1. Mel Gibson was booted from his acting role in the movie, "Hangover 2" because of some racial slurs that he was caught saying to his girfriend. That is sad and embarrassing, especially with Mel Gibson being so well known. Forgetting some one's name does not look so bad anymore.

2. Olympic Gold Medalist Cameon van der Burgh admitted to cheating in the 100 meter breaststroke that he set a world record for a few days ago. This is how he tried to defend himself.(so embarrassing!) "If you're not doing it, you're falling behind," van der Burgh said. "It's not obviously — shall we say — the moral thing to do, but I'm not willing to sacrifice my personal performance and four years of hard work for someone that is willing to do it and get away with it."

3.Paris Hilton was caught with a bag of cocaine falling out of her purse. She tried to get away with it by saying it was a bag of gum. Really? A bag of gum?

4. Charlie Sheen trashed a hotel room because he was in a drunken stupor. That is not even the most embarrassing part! His representative Stan Rosenfield responded to the issue by saying he had "an adverse allergic reaction to some medication."

5. Lady Gaga wrapped herself in a "meat dress" to receive her award at the MTV Music Awards. A meat dress? Are you serious Gaga? I sometimes wonder about celebrities these days.

Until Next Time!

I hope you have enjoyed this limerick friends! Have a great day and try not to do anything embarrassing! But, if you do, remember to join in the laughter. Laughter is the best medicine! Until Next Time!

I have had far too many moments to relate, but this was a fun read.

I could write an entire Hub on my embarrassing moments!

Hey Josh, glad you didn't find this above comment yet. Sorry, this 1st time limerick of mine is wrong, hahaha, and of course what am I thinking, you can see it coz I don't have the access to remove it. Too late for coffee (that's me)! So if you don't mind, I have it right here...

"Out on lunch, spaghetti on plate

      Pass a handsome guy, I can't wait

      Plate spilled on his shoe

      Picked the fork that flew

Shamed, I dashed before t'was too late."

I've fixed it quick after reading a hub by Faith Reaper- https://hubpages.com/literature/No-Worries-Mhatter...

      What a lesson for me!

      Funny, Josh! Wonderful hub!

      And here's my embarrassing moment...

Out on lunch, three meatballs on spaghetti plate

To pass a seated handsome guy, I couldn't wait

Tripped flat on the floor, spaghetti all over his shoe

"Can I help you," he said, and turned to the fork that flew

Mortified, I picked myself up; my crush turned to hate.

      Cheers!

I thought you were talking about me here. I recently fell while out walking - I was looking at some unusual mushrooms (let's not go there!) and tripped over a brick. Ouch. Laughed at your posts on the celebrities.

You never cease to entertain! Great limerick and background story. My most embarrassing moments are to numerous to even pick one. My mother used to call me "Mary Grace" because I had a habit of falling up the stairs! Another time was getting ready for my brother-in-law's wedding. His bride to be was sending her sister over to pick something up. I opened the door in my bra and panties to find her father standing there....see, the list goes on and on. Laugh at myself? All the time...love and laughter....that's what its all about!

      Voted up, funny, and interesting!

Josh, funny limerick and stories of embarrassment. Celebrities do have their moments. I saw the other day where Randy Travis got his second DUI, or something like that. His mug shot looked like he had been beat up. While this kind of stuff is not exactly funny, it has to be embarrassing to someone in the limelight.

      Well done and voted up.

Voted up and funny. This was a fun read Josh. Thanks for sharing. Throughout life there have been many different odd moments. I guess the worst have been two incidents where I spent sincere moments of at least 10 minutes talking to people and then afterwards wondering who they were. I believe that both times they were friends of my parents. Therefore the confusion. Passing this on.

      LOL...This was Very Funny!!!!

I have way too many embarrassing stories to tell...however, I can laugh at myself, so I will share one of the most embarrassing (because there were over 100+ people watching)...

This happened about 4 years ago, both my girls played softball. The field is very large and has 3 separate softball fields and the middle is multi-purpose for football, soccer, and lacrosse.

After torrential down pores only half of the field can be used because the other half literally can be a pond and yes ducks do swim in it. I had worked a long day and we had one storm after the next. Both my girls had a game on two separate softball fields and I didn't have time to change from business attire to jeans...I was walking back and forth between the games because I didn't want to miss either of my girls playing.

My youngest who was 4 at the time decided he was going to pull away from my clutches and ran towards the pond...I ran through a lacrosse game as fast as I could to catch my son before he decided to take a dive, my shoes were not made for running and I slid a good distance and landed in the pond, I was soaking wet as well as covered in grass and mud, grabbed my son and continued to watch the games...however many people that knew me were laughing sooooooo hard...later in the week I was at the grocery store and some kid said "Mom, that's the lady that took the digger." LOL

josh3418....Most of these celebs do the " thing" to grab and hold attention..remember they are afraid their names will fade overnite, so some of these are " stunts" to create a buzz 24-7...embarrassing moments happen to us to keep us human and grounded....

I have had MANY of these " E M "in my lifetime ....well written , enjoyed the hub...

I think my most embarrassing moment was when i went to my friends Father's funeral. I got my spike heel caught in the welcome mat and drug it abit before the funeral director came to my rescue and literally cut it away from my shoe...

So you didn't like the meat dress? It's Lady Gaga, she could get away with anything. Her Joe Calderone persona is amazing! Love it! Love her!

Ok my most embarrassing moment is falling flat on my face. I walked into an office and I was speaking to the receptionist...lopking forward and not down and I missed the carpeted step. FLOP! OUCH to my ego. I didn't rent an apartment from them after their dumb step got in my way. Haha!

Oh, yeah, we've all had embarrasing moments! Like tripping over the sidewalk when there are no bumps in the road. Like having a wall "jump out at you" when you're stone cold sober. Like introducing someone new to someone you've known forever and forgetting your "forever" friend's name! Like walking down the hall and farting with each step (don't say it's never happened to you!).

      I had my moments:

Delivering pizza one busy afternoon back in 2003. Was looking for this huge dealership, and saw a big entrance. I decided tho hurry up the pace... to my big surprise my nose started diving into a thick window glass... omg!! (slow motion) I bounced back with the sicilian pizza box still intact. But the white suits inside (dealers) saw me and had a laugh of their LIFEtime. They came out with concern (Yeah right!!) I felt like.. Jim Carrey ready to call this nonsense quits. Good morning, Josh, thanks for the laugh. Yes, the celebs are just way out there - meat dress? I am glad there were no hungry pit bulls around! And as far as Paris and the bag of cocaine, well, I just feel for her little dog she carries in her bag - poor little thing must be flipping out! Ha. Anyway, the older you get, the more embarrassing moments one has for sure, so I have numerous. Most recently, I was running late for work one morinng, so I got dressed very quickly and hopped in the car for my hour commute. Then while driving on a country road, I just happen to notice that my shirt was inside out! I thought, well, I don't have time to go back home or stop into a business and go in the bathroom and fix it. Plus, everyone in the business would see, hey, that woman has her shirt inside out. Would what be best? Oh, look right there is that brand new house that has been standing there for sale (vacant) for years and there are no other homes around it, just a pasture across the street, hey, that is the perfect place to pull in and just pop my top off and turn it right side out - no one was around. Great, so I pulled into the driveway and, thankfully, I lowered my seat back down as far as I could and turned my shirt back right side out and then popped the seat back up, and what to my surprise do I see - a little sign with a little yellow smiley face on it very low to the ground in the bushes that says - SMILE, YOU ARE ON VIDEO SURVEILLANCE!!! AHHHHHH, I was so embarrassed and afraid that the owner would rewind it or look at it one day and have me arrested or either put it on You Tube, funny woman takes shirt off in my driveway!!! Ha. Well, as far as I know, everything is cool. At least I did lower my seat, so hopefully the camera could not see me, but probably did. The owner is probably just having a good laugh. That is just one of many embarrassing stories. Have a great weekend. It is great to laugh at oneself. I could write a hub a day for a year with all the embarrassing moments I've had. Ha. In His Love, Faith Reaper

Josh, I have done more embarrassing stuff that ever could imagine in this lifetime. As for forgetting someone's name, I have done that on more than one occasion, because I am terrible at remembering names (I am a math teacher at heart, so numbers I can totally remember!). Thankfully though I have never trip over my own two feet in NYC. I actually went to school at NYU for part of my master's degree and am truly thankful after reading your limerick I never did trip over my feet during that time of my life :) Voted and shared too!!!

Whilst nearing the end of doing my weekly shop in the local supermarket, my 13 year old son tagging along beside me, ( who was wearing a brown top ) I remembered I had forgot to put something in my shopping trolley ( cart )...I asked him to stand there and hold the trolly while I ran to pick up the item I forgot. I rushed back, saw the brown top out the corner of my eye, plonked the item into the trolley, grabbed what I thought was his arm and started pulling on the arm and dragging him and trolley towards the check out. I happened to look up and saw my son and trolley halfway down the supermarket isle, I thought..'oh nooo who have I got a hold of??' I turned to see a terrified looking old lady with a brown top on, who was handing her purse to me and begging me not to hurt her !!! I was mortified!! Very embarrassing!!

Adorable (well, except for Sheen's face...), Josh!

OK, I get impressionable with the last song I hear on the radio and decide I need to sing it... sometimes pretty loud in an allegedly empty parking lot... note to self (sign up for those voice lessons!) If I had a camera, I could lend you some shots for future hubs!

Voted UP & FAB! Hugs, Maria

I've definitely had my fair share of times when I've tripped over my feet and plenty have been in NYC. I usually just roll my eyes, shake my head, and smile.

It's good to see the goofs stars make

when we know they've so much at stake

      drop drugs on floor

      wear meat and more

cooked their goose with old Shake 'n Bake

Loved it buddy! Of course, we all make mistakes (I may just have), but they're always in the eyes of the press that have cameras!

      Great Hub as always!

Celebs certainly have their share of embarrassing moments. But

A fun hub to read, love the limerick

Gaga got what she wanted... PUBLICITY and to be talked about.

I too have had my share of embarrasing moments. would you believe in a community of less than 600 3 guys had exactly the same name. Unfortunately i chose the wrong one to congratulate on hearing his wife was pregnant. He was just a little shocked and confused. haha.
