Enslaved

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

Without the conviction of accepting change,

what we want can never be realised,

and will simply remain a dream.

Resistance to change is common,

for we find security in repetitive life,

regardless of quality and circumstance.

Dreams rarely exceed their possibility,

tentatively clinging to hopes without action,

optimism without foundation.

Possibility is the fuel of action,

and the limitless result of a will unencumbered,

a mind willing to take steps toward resolution.

A journey begins with a single step,

a shell broken,

a tendency recognised and overcome.

Once free from ourselves,

anything is possible within the imagination,

the flight of a released mind.

By nature we are our greatest foe,

fear, the chains that bind us to the past,

to the unfoldment of a relentless future,

where choice is a feast and failure is no option.

Imagination is merely a concept without action,

without the considered steps of progress,

and the courage of self- belief and confidence.

Just as love is cloaked without expression,

change is hindered without the clear steps of action.

Freedom resides within us,

but can only be acknowledged,

after the acceptance of flight.

We sure are our worst foe, in change, or just life in general. Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately, we are all too often our own worst enemy. I was one who wasn't open to change, but having a husband who was in the military for 20 years opened my eyes up real quick! With all that behind me, I have to remind myself that I can adapt. Very good hub for this time of year when so many of us make and fail to keep our resolutions for the new year ahead. Great hub!

By nature we are our greatest foe. How true. We hold ourselves back making excuses for why or what we feel we cannot achieve.
