Escape is Impossible

Escape is Impossible

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Exquisite elongated fingers explore the image, lost in time.

Each memory an explosion of realisation, a confirmation of loss,

the regret of love cut short and unexplored.

Fingers that should have painted the emotions of adoration,

skin to skin, sensations of ecstasy and commitment.

The image now fading, like life, ebbing away with time,

holding on to the last remnant, the last flicker of oneness,

that could have endured and grew like a rampant vine,

under the warmth of a nurturing sun.

Memories appear then burst like bubbles,

each one like a searing pain, the dissipation of hope.

Memories that relive the swell of loving thoughts,

the warmth and bliss that union can bring.

Always back to reality, the unfinished and listless loss,

the weakness and surrender of will.

She places the image down and sighs,

unwilling to exclude herself from the pain it exposes.

There is but one love for her and it has passed,

torn from her heart forever, taking the essence of her.

She lives on knowing that this love was hers,

the heights of a life yet unlived.

But how can she change the reality, the constant knowing,

the reminders of her heart, her love.

She gently closes her eyes seeking solace in the nothing,

but the darkness is the blank canvas of memory,

escape is impossible.

Tony, How loving you are to feel anothers pain. All things are possible though Christ our Lord. May God bless your family greatly.
