Fabulous February is here;

With Flowers all around;

Fragrant And Bright ;

Some delicate, some fiery;

Some flamboyant, some fluorescent;

But so harmonious and fresh;

Festive is the atmosphere,

With vibrant, cool blossoms,

that sets the mood ablaze.

Flowers that grow in February!

Well obviously all the pictures of flowers in this hub have grown in February. Some of them are from my small balcony garden and some are from the garden of my residential apartment.

Aren't they lovely! They spread their sweet smell all around and it's a pleasure to walk past them.

February is the month when winter is about to end in India and spring is all set to begin. It is the perfect month to grow any plant or flower. It will bloom well before the summer begins so that you are ready for the other parts of gardening.
Contrary to the belief that flowers blossom in Spring season, there are these wonderful varieties that grow in the months of February.

Here is a list of some of them:

  • Bulbs:

Bulbs are the best flowers to plant in February. They are described as the growing season flowers which will bloom during this month. The whole idea is to plant the seeds for bulbs during February so that the bulbs can bloom during the spring season.

In India Spider Lily, Canna Lilies etc. are the ideal blooms to be planted during February.

  • Lilies & Daffodils:

We just love lilies and daffodils when someone gifts us these flowers in a bouquet. Lilies are the best plants to plant in this season and it blossoms in such rich pink, white, lemon yellow colours--so heavenly!

  • Roses:

Who doesn't love Roses! I think we all do. But February Roses are specially lovely with such bright colours that sets the mood ablaze for The Valentine day!

  • Witch Hazel:

Witch Hazel is a plant that produces attractive yellow and orange coloured flowers with sweet fragrance. These bunch of flowers start to bloom in January and continue to blossom in February till March.

  • Winter Jasmine

Another beautiful February flower which is mostly yellow colour is a creeper plant. Grown generally on slopes for covering the ground, they look very elegant while they climb fences. These flowers require well-drained soil and full or partial sun to grow well.

  • Pansies

    These easy to grow February flowers blossom in various bright colours such as pink, yellow, violet, purple, white etc. These flowers require fractional sunlight and acidic soil to grow well. These are the best flowers that can be grown in February. They can survive in very cold winters as well.

Fun Facts about February:

  • Once every six years, February is the only month that has four, full seven-day weeks.
  • February starts on the same day of the week as March and November in common years, and on the same day of the week as August on leap years.
  • February ends on the same day of the week as October every year.
  • In leap years, it is the only month that begins and ends on the same weekday.
  • People born on a leap year technically celebrate their birthday only once every four years, but most observe it on the 28th of February.
  • Despite the shortest month, February has many events, including The Valentine's Day.

To Sum up:

It is simply impossible to describe the beauty of flowers or capture their beauty in photographs.

There is something so delicate and intimate about the fragrance and bright colours of these most fabulous gift of Nature.

Every time I see them or pass along I get intoxicated by their elegant presence and that motivated me to write these few lines.

Oh! Wonderful and lovely flower,

The beautiful creation of Nature,

You bloom Silently,

Spread fragrance and beauty all around,

Live in the moment,

Then you fall away silently,

How you teach us,

The important lesson of life,

Life is beautiful;

Live it , Love it,

But don't have lust for it!

      "It is simply impossible to describe the beauty of flowers or capture their beauty in photographs." However, you did a marvelous job capturing the colors. The colorful pansies are somewhat mystical.

      Awesome poetry with lovely images of flowers. You presented the month of February so elegantly. I appreciate it.

      I love white lilies more than roses. But, for gifting, roses are good.

      What a lovely hub, Chitrangada. I am not a green thumb at all, so I am quite jealous of all your beautiful grown flowers in your garden. I wish I felt I could do that. I always think about trying a flower garden. I was also unaware of all the pretty flowers that would grow in February. Wow!

      I like wildflowers the best. Daisies have been my favorite since I was just a little girl. I remember a little purse my mom bought for me when I was around five years old; light blue with daisies on it. She knew I liked daisies. :) I always want to pick the wildflowers that I see on the side of the road in the countryside, but I usually leave them and just enjoy the beauty of them when I ride by.

      Flowers always inspire us, don't they! I was touched to read the second paragraph of your comment.

      Flowers look most fabulous on the plant where they grow. I hate to pluck them and make bouquets of them. Their life is so short but so beautiful and rejuvenating.

      Thank you and have a lovely day!

      I really liked the poem that you wrote along with all of your marvelous photos. We have lots of colorful flowers just about year round in our Houston climate.
