Facing the Eternal

Updated on January 18, 2011

Do you really understand

things that cannot end

its not a thing that watches measure

it is a thing that holds steady

a north star to travel towards.

If you think you are enough

to hold a thing

not to have it change

cherish it once and tomorrow the same

staying stagnant yourself

your hope is a bluff

things are not finite

so neither can you be

masterful organization at play

the closer you look

the more there is to see

a study of it

shows way to make it shine brighter.

You see it isn't about you

what you think

what you feel

it is about caring enough about something

to gain sympathy, empathy

know how and why its real.

When thinking about people

the same is true and yet more

for a person isn't simple

they are more then meets the eye

even the most puerile mind

has secrets to share

a way to think

which they understand not at all

so anything you learn

must be done from the outside

a challenge to be sure

then there are children,

an observer's delight

personalities to bring harmony

a way to teach

to bring light and life.

What is eternity to you

if such things make you yawn

perhaps you need time

an eternity alone

then you will ache for the chance

to learn what one can learn now

then live eternal beings

creators and students

of the infinite.

If you do what you must, and care about others as hillrider correctly assessed then any mistakes that you make only get you closer to where you should be not further. When you correct the way you serve others and sympathize, empathize with others then you become even more capable of more. If you manage to get them and by that virtue yourself to the throne of Father in Heaven it will be enough.

But how can you learn, unless you go out there and explore, make some mistakes along the way...Life is to lived to the fullest, however one sees fit. It's not all about suffering until we meet our maker one day. Just my thoughts.

(IMO) The heart of this piece is here. We do for others as we would have done for us...

Are things always changing then? And so if we chose not to be in a constant state of changing, then holding concepts of eternity will remain out of our grasp? Perhaps I am not changing enough, or perhaps I'm trying to measure eternity which is why I cannot understand it.
