Faith- A Poem

Updated on March 11, 2015

When I can’t see the end of a dream

Or when the future is full of things unseen

I keep myself awake at night

And try to figure out what’s right.

Surely, if I make my lists and plans

I can come up with a scheme most grand.

Funny how it usually works

My plans make everything so much worse.

My thoughts alone are not good guides.

My feelings always go awry.

New plan: I won’t plan so much I’ll pray.

New plan: I won’t tell; I will obey.

I can’t see the end of the road

And honestly, I don’t know where to go.

I don’t like the change that’s coming.

I’m afraid of the course I’m plotting.

What will the future hold for me?

What mischief will life make for me?

“Trust” one word seeps into my mind.

“Don’t think just trust in Me and find

Courage to walk a road unknown

And faith that you are not alone.”

To have courage is to do something in the midst of fear.

To have faith is to trust when things are just unclear.

Both are choices you must make

If a life well-lived is what’s at stake.

When the future is untold

Let His guidance make us bold.

When the road to take seems too steep

Have faith that His plans for you will keep.

Faith is the things in which we hope.

Without faith we will not grow.

We’ll be turning circles round and round.

No matter what we’ll gain no ground.

We repeat our mistakes again and again.

We say we believe but that’s pretend.

Blessed are those who do not see

But choose instead to just believe.

This song reminds me that He who is in me is greater than anything in the world.
