Faithful In Joy (poem)

Updated on January 31, 2015

My darling don’t cry as I slip away

It doesn’t become our time so well spent

A part of our lives no sadness was meant

For we were the sun the Joy of the day

-

Flowers that followed our wondrous display

Echo the beauty of our grand accent

We left no moments or means to repent

And though I must leave my memories stay

-

So she stayed faithful to his dying prayer

His memories were the smiles which she bore

-

Kissed by the sunshine meant he was still there

Eyes toward forever where dreams which she wore

-

Yet just how much Joy could one person bear

And so they became together once more

Joy shared is so important, even when it becomes just a distant memory it remains precious. A lovely poem.

Martin, I know the meaning of Joy in your poems. This is beautiful but has me a tad worried. How is your health?

The loss was too much for her. She died to be with him again.

      Beautiful words, but poignant poem.

Hope your weekend is going well.

      DJ.

This is a sad poem, but very lovely. The passing of a loved one leaves us wondering and reflecting upon our joyous memories. You captured all of this well in such a short poem.
