Faithless Love

Updated on August 6, 2015

She stumbled down stairs

with early morning blues

her head and heart aching

her eyes burning red

she wondered was it just last night

they told her he had gone

gone to who knows where

How did he dare?

the ring on her finger

still all shiny and new

the pain in her heart

as old as time

Is it over forever?

Did she not mean

more to him?

had she just been a toy

to fill his life with joy?

faithless love

crushed her heart

her very soul

with the closing of a door

for many moons

she would often wonder

what it was that made him

push her aside

like a coward he had run

but first he’d vowed to love

love her for now and always

his kisses full of passion

now left alone

with memories

doubt and thoughts

of his faithless love

Thank you Genna. Unfortunately it happens more to couples than true love does.

Faithless love is heartbreak over once what thought as is a haunting and ultimate betrayal, which you captured so well.

Thank you Bill. Love to watch Old Hollywood tearjerkers and at times they really inspire.

      Thank you Christinemarie.

      Totally agree with you Demas.

      You welcome Ruby.

So true Eric. Not always do we find true love.

Some of my inspiration Ms. Dora comes from Old Hollywood tear jerkers and then of course there are my memories. As a teenager and later on I thought love was always meant to be true but learned otherwise.

So true Shauna. I have known one or two couples who have had spectacular weddings only to be divorced a year later.

It sounds like they broke up soon after they were married. What deep heartache that would cause!

Love should not hurt; the headache and heartache resulting from faithless love hurts plenty extra. Your poem describe the hurt and the doubt very well.

Love Linda, and loved this work. Dirty rotten scumbag, well if he did that to my daughter -- I tell you. I guess you really made me just want to hug your poor gal.

I love this. being unfaithful is never a true love. Linda is another of my favorite singers. Perfect choice! Thank you.

Far too often now, love is confused with lust, physical attractiveness is confused with substance, the long term is confused with the quick or prolonged fling, and trials are confused with obstacles.

Love is not a word spoken by crafty tongues. It is deeds and truth.

"...with the closing of a door..."

      Nice Gypsy Rise.

It's expected to happen in love void of trust.

      ...pushed aside...

Despite this lack; true love never fails in its trust.

One finding it, even successively, keeps it, never feeling pushed away again.

      Lovely words and accompanying song.
