Family Are My Closest Friends

Updated on December 11, 2011

Come Closer I Don't Bite

With technology at its peak

We seek friends from all over the world to connect

If they were family they would be around us day and night

Watching our backs even when we make mistakes

Knowing we will keep trying to do better

Telling us we have bed head and we look tired with just a friendly smile

Giving us hugs and kisses and loving us unconditionally

For we have grown up together over the years

We have been separated and have been real close

Sometimes not a word is spoken but all is still understood

We are comfortable to see familiar faces and quickly reminded who looks like who

As the wrinkles cover up the pain and the sadness of the loved ones we miss

We have the great memories and the pictures taken over the years

Now stuffed in a draw or an old scrapbook that remains closed

For we each are trying to make ends meet as we work the days away

Then on weekends and days off trying to relax and enjoy the good life

When we make the time once a year to come together for a reunion,Christmas Eve or for Christmas

It is truely amazing how much we have grown

Not just in height but in the love we have always had for each other

Putting all our differences aside for the moment

Sharing a connection that is better than the world famous internet

So when this year ends and another new year begins

We can only hope more of our friends are the same as our family

Giving of themselves and talking and caring about what really matters

Watching all their children grow into young adults

Each who have been guided and scolded as needed

Only so they can learn what we have missed

To be better and healthier

Happier with what we have and always giving to the less fortunate

Because we have something no store will ever sell

A life that is worth living and we wait as our children tell

The stories of our most embarressing moments and things that stand out in their minds

Because each one of us

So unique and kind with many faults

Only wants to be loved one more time

I got caught with your title Hub! Really our family is our closest friends. When we're in a fight, some of our friends do leaves us, but our family, always there to support us. We all have our secrets, but we tell our secrets the most are the one we're closest in our family. I love my family, and they're the one that I treat as my closest friends ever!

This is a nice reminder. My family is spread all over, and they love to get together just to tell stories of all of my embarrassing moments. Great writing . . . I wasn't in the mood and almost skipped it.

Thanks for reminding all of us that even with differences, our family is still our family. Cyber friends are great, but real friends and families take special nurturing to keep the connections strong. Great Hub.
