Famous Resolutions 2012
With the new year around the corner, many people will be starting anew. New year's resolutions are always fun. At least for a week, sometimes longer, we exercise, eat healthier, quit drinking or smoking and resolve to make a change in our lives.
Abraham Lincoln was a great resolver. Faced with a dissolving union he was determined to keep together, along with the volatile issue of slavery, president Lincoln stood firm and resolved to keep our nation in tact. In 1865. Lincoln's wife, Mary Todd wanted to spend a little more time with Mr. Lincoln. With the war coming to an end, Lincoln made it his resolution to do just that. She suggested the theatre. Mr. Lincoln obliged, and well that was that.
I have come up with some new year's resolutions for celebrities. So with 2012 fast approaching, I present....famous resolutions. Let's start in Washington and make our through sports and Hollywood.
Barrack Obama: President Obama is a great public speaker. However, it's no secret the president is fond of his teleprompters. This has become an issue in his everyday life as well. According to staff members, Obama was seen having a conversation with the first lady in the dining room. During the conversation, Michelle called out the president for reading off of his blackberry. Apparently the president has a mobile prompter app on his phone to help him say the right thing at the right time. So the president's resolution will be to wean himself off of the prompter in time for the debates this coming fall.
Ron Paul Mr. Paul's resolution is to appear a little more...in touch. He has some fresh, new ideas that appeal to many, and a very faithful following. It's just that sometimes, Mr. Paul comes off as the old grumpy grandfather. Crotchety and irritable, he will tell you like it is. Maybe this is what people like about him. I’m not sure it's electable however.
Mitt Romney: Mr. Romney, in an effort to appear more likable and approachable, wants to come off more relaxed. His resolution for 2012 will be to roll the sleeves up and gain some blue collar appeal, with a name like Mitt, good luck!
Herman Cain - Hopefully Herman's resolution is to not give up. His candidacy may be over, but Mr. Cain shouldn't run and hide. Only Herman and the ladies know what really happened. He seems like a great guy and a decent man, I wish him the best.
Tim Tebow - I'm sure Tim Tebow's resolution is to become a better football player, it may be to become a better human. Like this guy or not, it is never boring when he's playing. Listen to one of his press conferences, he's humble and rarely talks about himself. It makes you like professional sports again.
Kim Kardashian: Kim Kardashian's resolution is to get publicity. She feels she is not getting enough of the spotlight. With Lady Gaga and Nikki Manaj, Kim feels she's losing her grip on America's pop culture, another wedding may be on the horizon.
Joe Paterno -Let's hope Joe's resolution is to enjoy retirement. It doesn't look like this will happen, a lifetime career of helping college kids fulfill their dreams has gone down the drain with the Sandusky issue.
Lady Gaga: Ms Gaga's resolution is see how ridiculous she can be. What else can she do? She wore a meat dress and got a few headlines for a week. I think she places bets with friends to see how ridiculous she can be and still be socially acceptable.
Kanye West - In kanye's eyes I'm sure he thinks he's perfect, so no resolution is needed.
David Stern - The NBA commissioner's resolution for 2012 is to become less of a control freak. Blocking trades, and controlling franchises isn't good commissioner behavior.
Glenn Beck - Glenn Beck's resolution for 2012 is to scare the general public into buying gold. This is the same resolution he's had since 2008.
Keith Oberman - Mr. Oberman's new year's resolution it to become relevant again.
Alec Baldwin: Mr. Baldwin's resolution is to take a break from Words With Friends. He will also work on his temper as to not have public outbursts that leave him apologizing for the ensuing months. Anger management may be on the horizon.
Charlie Sheen - Charlie Sheen's resolution is....you know what? I give up.
I'm sure we all have resolutions to make, hopefully they work out. Some of us have small changes we would like to make, others have big plans. My resolution is to become a better writer. Good luck to everyone on achieving your goals. If you do fall short, just remember, there's always next year!
