Fearless on the Outside

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Fearless on the outside, and distrustful in between,

my soul the scares of weathered life and everything that’s been.

A facade I must attest to, protects me from myself,

my inner vulnerability, my secret core and stealth.

It is not that I have weakness, or a penchant for treachery,

It is more what people can do to me, their harsh ability.

To wheel the thoughts of injustice and open me to the bone,

and strangle my positivity and render me alone.

For kindness is all I ask in life, and not demand my will,

in peace I find my freedom, and wish no person ill.

If only I were made of iron, my insides cast and strong,

I’d never need bravado, a lie that lasts so long.

I can but face the truth of it, sensitivity is my curse,

my only hope understanding, not persecution to make it worse.

I’m certainly not a perfect being, and try my best to be,

aware of my imperfections, and let love my eyes to see.

Fantastic! The stranglers of positivity are limitless. I think the idea behind their actions is usually "if I cannot find positivity within myself, perhaps I can try to take yours away". Voted up and awesome.
