Clumsy bumblebees

Hover as the sun sinks low-

Too drunk to fly home.

_______

Plump sparrows quibble.

The seed bag is empty now.

Fall feeding frenzy!

_______

In search of rose hips

A squirrel clings and teeters.

My comic relief.

_______

With bold announcement

A jay seeks peanuts only.

Backyard connoisseur!

      Hello Audrey,

I am delighted that you like these expressive observations from my backyard. I love to sit w/ my husband at dusk with a glass of wine and soak in the beauty there. The birds and squirrels are quite active then! I always enjoy critiques from you, one of my favorite poets here on HP. Best wishes for a lovely Spring and thank you! :)

Again, just beautiful writing---I know that often runs short of the impact that a piece might have upon reading--but your work really is beautiful!

Nice to see you, Rasma :) Summer is always so brutally hot , and the garden struggles with heat stress while being under attack from leaf chewers. Fall is such a welcomed relief which we all, my cat inclded, love to enjoy. This is why I like native plants that produce seed heads and berries. Late summer lizard hatches have brought so many babies who will feed on the grasshopper instars next Spring. Of course, my cat is in a state of bliss! Thank you for your thoughtful comments. My best to you, as always.- cat :)

So delightful. Could just picture those birds and squirrels searching for the last bits of food. Since my cat Sid has already moved in for the autumn - he was out all summer enjoying garden living - the birds and small creatures about can take their pick of what is left in our garden.
