Fetch Starfire, a Poem

Updated on June 19, 2013

Fetch Starfire

fetch starfire from dying sun

and pull the shadow from

the geese flying,

and the eagle right behind them-

Fetch the sweetest song of robin

always a worm in the mouth

going to feed the

endless gob of children,

Don't go in there.

In that room

lies the truth

of all the romance

we plaster on everything.

we are born aching,

and hungry,

and die the same way...

can one help it

if it's beautiful?

I loved it, great poem! Can tell, you didn't just throw it together in 2 or 3 minutes but spent time and emotion! Voted up and beautiful!

Lily, it really is beautiful. Every second is worth being here and knowing love, God's great love. Through all of the pain in your life, you have kept that sacrosanct. You have a fine, fine heart and a spirit that makes words fly.

Financial, haha, actually, I write extemporaneously, I don't write it down, or plan, or anything... sorry...

Hy, don't you love the word, sacrosanct? Yep.I thank you staunch friend! lily

Wow! I open my Hubs and FIVE Lilyfires to warm a cold June evening. This is one of your best--IMO--in recent weeks. Here you open a vista, dash it to earth, and save it in an unexpected and telling truth--an insight that has the capacity to stun, in intense language over short span. Brilliant stuff.

I love your ballsy confessionls, your naked here-I-am-go-to-hell stripped-back revelations--but, for me, your staying value, your shining light, is when you FUSE all that guts with poetics. You do it here. You've often done it in the past. You'll do it many, many times in the future.
