Fields Set Aside (poem)

Updated on May 10, 2013

I slumber in fields set aside

Where wonders have nothing to hide

And truth in our hearts will abide

As long as my deeds aren’t denied

-

For there was my moment for you

My dreams of forever in view

I gave up that all which I knew

To meet the unknown there I flew

-

And all which was me set aside

I kept but one thing in my view

Of loved ones and people I knew

Whose freedoms could not be denied

-

Till there in my sky filled with you

I met what my fate couldn’t hide

My future just didn’t abide

Into the unknown there I flew

-

Now my sacrifices denied

By ones who in terror abide

And cause of my death now they hide

I slumber in fields set aside

Wow, looks just like where my dad is buried. Many gave it all in the name of freedom!

      God bless, Faith Reaper

Martin, a wonderful heart-felt tribute to those who served, died and those who are left behind, but so much more.

War is such a terrible waste of young lives, but until humanity can truly embrace the concept of living in peace, there will always be wars. Beautiful and very touching.

Martin, it's so sad that too many times, the lives of the brave are swept away. This is a beautiful tribute to our soldiers. You have made it very personal. For that I thank you.

As is so often said on those that passed, gone but not forgotten.
