Fighting the great battle with fear: an insurmountable endeavor: an inspirational poem

Whistle a Happy Tune

Enemy at the gates,

At whose sight we often tremble

The fight, a battle we most hate

Life's greatest gamble.

He looks us in the face,

With eyes to subdue

To fend off his oncoming, our faith

We must renew

Source

To vanquish his dire presence

Stop deliberating

Halt our citations

and acknowledging

Fear a foe to face

Intrepid intimidator

Meet him with good grace

and determined demeanor

Source

Overwhelming this foe

Takes the test of time

Mandatory patience

Forbearance in prime

To flood out his presence

We need to exhort

Kindness of other soldiers

Their soulful support

Source

The battle with this foe

Needs a prepared plan

Detailed deliberation

And great thought at hand

To fight the fight with fear

Is a delicate art;

It takes Love’s gift of grace

And a hopeful heart.

What's the best way to conquer our fears? This poem will hopefully give some ideas.

It takes a hopeful heart to overcome fear, or to make fear their strength :) Well said poem, Michelle! Fear can take us down if we don't control or confront it; however, fear can bring us up if we know how to overcome it and/or make it a strength instead of leaving it as a weakness :)

Well put too, Keith. We just have to over come in little steps and turn the weaknesses into strengths! If we can do that (takes a lot of gumption) it can take us a long way! Thanks so much for coming by!

Sadly, BIll, I wrote this because there are many who are still in its grip. Do know a few of them! Hope this tells them something! Thanks, my friend, for stopping by!

The fight against fear is a difficult one, and starts inside us all. I believe we are all scared of at least one thing out there. Beautiful poetry. I vote up and will share too.

This reminded me of the beautiful song from the Impossible Dream; can't remember the exact name of the song, darn it. And it reminds me of FDR in his speech about the only fear is fear itself.

Great Hub, I voted it UP, etc.

Michelle, you just simply amaze me!!! Honestly, as usual very impressive!!

So many battles through history come to mind while I read this and at the same time this applies to every day life, it's not just about conquering fears, but not giving up when all odds are against you. As you stated "our faith We must renew" to conquer not only our fears yet those difficulties that surmount our everyday lives.

AWESOME JOB!!! Every vote but funny, Up, and Shared!!!!

I agree with Patty Kenyon, your poem does apply to everyday life. I especially loved this passage!

      Fear a foe to face

      Intrepid intimidator

      Meet him with good grace

      and determined demeanor

Looking forward to reading more of your work. Thanks for the Hub.

Wonderful words and very expressive.. from the heart. It reminds me of what our forefathers in America faced in the Revolutionary war and one that seem so over whelming in its stance. The early settlers in this country, as those in war threatened ones around the world, had to dig deep inside and stand strong together.

Thanks Christy, I agree so much with that. The fight against fear is so difficult indeed! And we're scared of one or more things which we have to conquer. Thanks for the share, hugs for you!

Think you are right, Mary, it was that song. It is quite reminiscent of this poem, now that you mention it! Wow, so glad it reminded of FDR....the comparison is an honor! So glad you've stopped by!

Hey, Patty, you're insights are more than amazing themselves. And you are so right....fear diminishes the determination to fight. We should be mindful of that! Thanks for coming by, my dear!

queen of fire in tarot teaches how to blaze a fearful path - walk the path as we tread it....no worry about future, no fretting about the past, just aware of the now. learn how you handle situations, so you're confident each time one arises. you used amazing and artistic language in your poem - very heroic, epic writing. imagery too. thanks for sharing!
