Finding Love Where There Was None

Updated on October 19, 2011

Look Again

Why do people give up so easily ?

As soon as they don't get what they want or they find an obstacle blocks their path

They stop and go the other way

Why do they not continue to look and find what they came for ?

Don't let someone else lead you astray

I am looking for love in everything I see

When it isn't clear in my mind or I just don't feel it in the air

I don't give up or look somewhere else

I plant my feet like an Evergreen in the ground

Finding a way to dig down deeper

Look a little closer

Even if I come up empty

I am far from done

That is when I close my eyes and think again

How much love means to me

What changes in my life have I taken because of the love that slides under my skin

Then makes my lips form that silly little grin

As my insides turn into apple cider

I know that feeling only too well

I will do anything to bring back that pleasant feeling

The rush that fills my body with such warmth

When all my kind thoughts join together like connect the dots

I am a bloodhound on a fresh trail

My eyes become glazed and my mind frozen

For all I need is a little sign of love

It might be an animal that visited me for an instant

Maybe the weather changed ever so slightly

A voice I haven't heard in years

An old memory that reduces my past into one thought filled with passion

A hug,a smile, a kiss

When I feel that feeling I quickly look for the next sign

Like glitter shining on paper

Something so special it makes my heart race

This time it could be harder to find

An unexpected surprise

That makes my eyes open wide and become alert

For wherever love is I will be there

Holding both my arms around it

If I have to tickle my own feet to get the ball rolling

Maybe finding a way to scratch an itch I couldn't reach

I don't have time to do something else

What I am sharing is a love that found right here in the Dim light

You can see it too with a little help

No rushing life to it's end

Lets focus on what is happening in our life now

A friendship that travels to the heavens and back again in an instant

Taking in a breath of fresh air and welcoming love here

Your line "an old memory...." is what I felt when I wrote my poem about seeing an old love after 30 years. Read it when you have time, in the meantime, I hope you have a great day bathed in love.

I loved this. I love each day, and all the wonderful things that happen to me in a day. Love is all around us: in nature, in family, in our pets, and I thank God for each day and all of it's blessings and love. Regards, Mary

Dim Flaxenwick You are the smart one.I am the one that moved the wrong way and slipped into the cold water. It wasn't the first time either.I can't always blame it on the green peat moss that made me fall.It was the sneakers that were worn they didn't have any grip. Then the time before that is that you rushed me and I should of took my time.Anyway I am not sure how I am going to explain to my wife when all my life I never had the right things to say to my mom.All worth it in the end.I know I will follow you and if you fall I am turning back. Then again I could just walk in the water and watch you cross the rocks.I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner.I am so smart. Then if you are going to fall I can catch you.No since of both of us getting wet.Next time you can walk in the water and I can stay dry.I don't see any sun here if you find if let me know?Have a fun day.

Someone once told me to look at every obstacle as a stepping stone. It works, when l can do it. l think of crossing a stream as a child , not wanting to end up in the water, l carefully stepped on one stone at a time.

So much of your work helps me to think that way when l´m down. You really do have a gift.

Wow! I loved this poem about finding love wherever you are in the little unexpected things that bring us momentary joy, that make our heart beat faster and also about finding it in ourselves. The last sentence is divine. Welcoming love into our life is the surest way to find it. Voted up.
