Finding Peace In Sadness

Updated on January 4, 2012

What Do You Want ?

Every day is filled with enormous amounts of emotions

Some I can deal with some I can't

I know what it is like to be sad

Now I want to like something else

I know what it is like to be happy

I get to choose

I choose Happiness every time

Where my mind can bounce from floor to ceiling in seconds

When I smile so much where my cheeks really hurt

The truth is I could never experience these feelings and so may others if it wasn't for feeling unhappy or a loss

I would never know the difference

I would have nothing to compare it to

So really our saddest moments bring out the greatest loves

We find each moment more precious because we know it doesn't last forever

So now we can hold ech other closer

Feel all our feelings and not be ashamed or angry

We can walk away with our head in the sky and seeing how great life really is

Spending more time with all the people and animals that really matter

Instead of worrying about silly things

Like a scratch on the furniture that nobody will ever see

A stain on the carpet that looks so awful

We cover it with a table or sometimes a chair

Who cares ?

When your new car gets dented

Oh well it is just a piece of shiny metal with bent in a different direction

That spegetti stain right in the middle of your new dress shirt

Now it can become your fancy painting and cleaning shirt

When you forgot to pay a bill on time

That is life and we are people and we make mistakes

When you do something wrong in work and your boss is real mad

Sit and watch how red his face can get and how mad he can be

You didn't think it was possible ?

Neither did I

When your car needs repairs and you don't have the money

Wow realize what it feels like to walk

Get the bus or ask a friend for a ride

Maybe this will bring the two of you closer

Then again walking will work off some extra pounds

Maybe you will learn how much you love your mechanic

See what I am getting at

Love has to be drawn out like an artist with a blank piece of paper and a pencil

I know there is a beautiful picture just waiting to come out

I just have to find it

Maybe not today

I have to make it happen

I do that by trying and sometimes you fail

For me that is at least the first eleven times then I start to catch on

I look around me and find things I love

Spend so much time making those loves greater

I have very little time for anything else

So all my worries and pains have to wait

Maybe tomorrow maybe the next day after that

Maybe never is more like it

I am here to experience the best life I know how

With it I bring out more passion and love to the table

Like it was a Sunday dinner and I am going to feast

So there are going to be times I sneeze and won't admit I have a cold

I run out of Kleenex and I grab a toilet paper roll

I get upset and cry

But there also going to be so many more times

My smile is contagious and I give it to everyone I meet

I tell you for the fourth time how much fun I had

You politely tell me you don't want to hear it anymore

So when life and work and money seem the problem

Take it from me and they are no problems at all

They are just happiness in a Halloween custume trying to scare the life out of you

So give it right back

Laugh and make others laugh too

That is a challange I never seem to finish and I never will

Deborah Brooks What greater joy than to hear laughter come where silence once was. Then return back to silence waiting for the next laugh to break.I lean forward only to anticipate and witness all of life summed up in a sound that words still can't describe.Have a great evening.
