Fires of the Revealtion
Let me watch by the campfire friend
And I will bear the burden.
Let me stir the ashes of times past
and let us do the remembering.
Let us see the flames and the fumes rising
And I’ll recount to you what is known
Sit quietly as the flames dance within you
And scorch the laden isles of your mind.
Look now and see the beginnings of the old men
As time hastens and beckons its call.
Speak now for soon it will be nigh
And chance as it were will have passed.
Time stands still for neither you nor I
but passes men on its journey.
Brisk fires in the mind are but themes
written and danced in the eyes of men.
Too soon is the life of those forgotten
and vacant of time as time takes time.
As flames go wild we behold the specter
of thousands and of millions.
While the ashes glow red hot
We watch the epic poem of Salem.
But when the fumes arise from Jehosephat
Pass the word and let me watch, the fire.
