Flash Fiction: The Girl Down the Street

Updated on May 30, 2017

GalaxyRat is fond of rats and writing. And dark poetry. She knows that people don't like all these things together... but who cares?

I moved into the rickety house just a few months ago. Well, I was there for my job. It was Sunday, I was off work. I was walking down the street, thinking about meeting the new neighbors...when I saw the girl. She was ghostly, hovering down the street. I ran up to her, a smile playing on my face.

"Hi. Are you the new neighbor?"

"Yeah." I said.

"How'd you get here?" the ghost inquired, brows forrowed.

"I died, I'm here to work as a janitor."

The ghost grimaced. "Why aren't you a ghost yet?"

"I was buried alive."

My first try for flash fiction...

Most of my family members shrieked, "Creepy!", but as this is my first time, I had to write in the subject I write most about: darkness. So, that's my first try. Thanks for reading, and to those who were reading when I unpublished this, sorry! I was editing it.

I like the buried alive twist. I like the dark stuff. Must be the psychologist in me.

I agree with your family. This was a creepy, but good piece of micro-fiction. You like dark so check out my hub "Two Sentence Nightmares" when you have a chance.

Feel free to comment. As this is my first piece, it may not be as good as some.
