" but flesh and bone " poem

Updated on October 25, 2015

Better to have written it down in riddles
than for real truth to be known
like an old memory too painful to recall
isn't life but poetry written down

we can write a whole life story without
evealing the names
we can replay old scenarios
but hide the truth in writing games

today the memory is of blood on the shirt
and revenge of flesh and bone
a promise of secrecy and of sacred lies
it's for quiet contemplation alone

His hand reaching to my chest "You and I
are one and we're family is all"
hide the truth in the details
but flesh and blood I recall

Don't worry I'll never tell nor hold
you to promise as promises go unheard
loud blast in the night or a secret by day
I've not revealed a word

Life often leaves much to contemplate and it's nice if it can all be accompanied by wonderful memories and a glass of wine.

I agree that no secrets are better, but your poem is so good - so is the photo.

Way super cool bitchin photo. I am so there!

Could it be that secrets are a method of sanity in an insane world? Sometimes it is better not to throw my perception out there for the wolves.
