"Floating" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"Floating"

Here I am

Floating, up in the sky

Inside my bubble

Protected am I

So... alone, so so, so what! So how should one feel?

I stay floating up in my bubble, because it's easier to deal

With my bleeding heart, quicker to the pint, dripping down love

Tiny drops, saturated with experience, red rain from above

Showering down, freezing on the fall

Hard candy pain, crystals of hope shattering from off my wall

Sitting in the sun

So everyone can see

Light, shooting out a rainbow of truth

A symbol

In the middle of it all

Floating

Somewhere in the sky

In the middle of it all

Floating, out there am I?

Floating

Floating, fearlessly

Floating, aimlessly

Floating, accepting my limitations, I know that flight is for the birds

So, I sit here floating, trapped in my bubble with my words

My life, my essence, a cloud

One in which where lightning comes

Striking down, flashes of fire

Electric messages

From my electric chair

Reclined in the sky

Without a care

Floating

Thanks Dana, I haven't read this one in quite a while. I was pleased with the result. I appreciate the kind words, I liked all of the adjectives you chose. I'm glad you have a place in this world where you can "float".

Well I'm glad I went over my old emails and stumbled on this hub. This poem was electric. On fire yet, calming and peaceful. I love the words you chose. I loved the part "floating aimlessly- floating fearless" Floating free. Meditating finding just a space of peace in our own mind. I go camping every year with my family and it reminds me so much of this poem. I'm so at peace out there it feels like I have carved out my own little piece of heaven. Well, this was brilliant, true art and a pleasure to read. voted up and awesome!

Thanks Ryem, I always enjoy your poetry; it's intense and personal and often dark and always intriguing.

I love the metaphor you used. I tend to compare meditation or states where I am extremely relaxed and outside of this world to floating as well. Great poem.

Thanks Jodah, it can read as "meditation" and also as a state of desensitized existence, a paradox in a quest for balance... floating. Always glad to see your visits.

Hi Eric, I was about to comment that when reading your poetry it felt like meditating, and then I read your comment to Lisa...well it is. Great work.

Hi Lisa, thanks for stopping by. Floating is somewhat a metaphor for meditation in this piece. I achieve this sensation on long walks through my city, Providence RI.

No cause for alarm Chritine, I was writing the poem in a recliner, hence "electric chair"... My inspiration is my electricity. Thanks for the vist as always.

Great hub Eric. Sometimes I am in a state of mind where I feel as though my body is not part of me and I too am floating. I find it is a way to separate oneself from the hectic world around us. It is a way for my mind to let go of my body and just float.

      Eric,

I felt comfortable with the floating in the bubble...then an electric chair..mmm. Feeling a bit of discomfort.I've missed the quantum physics lesson didn't I? ...you ended floating...glad for that! All in all I think you're safe.
