Fly Little Airplane Fly Part 2

Fly Little Airplane Fly Part 2

Weeks passed and Jon hadn’t been back to the airfield he knew that he should he just couldn’t his grandpa Jack wasn’t gone but they were talking like he was, but why? He wanted to talk to grandpa Jack just not yet and that was why he was avoiding going to the airfield. He had his life to live and he was just a teenager, he liked planes he just wasn’t sure if he would be a good pilot. He did want to try though for his grandpa Jack’s sake. First, though he had to become a pilot so that is what he would think of and do.

Jon got through his schooling going to the airfield occasionally to see and go up in the planes, and then years passed and he was in University trying to the courses so that he could eventually get his piloting license. If he was going to take over the airfield one day that is what he would become. He always loved airplanes and couldn’t wait to get up in the air again in his favourite plane. He remembered what it felt like to be a passenger in it he felt limitless and free because the plane could take him anywhere. He knew that he could live limitlessly if he flew in his favourite plane and that is what he was planning on doing. He didn’t know where he was going first but he didn’t care as long as he was flying in his plane. He even thought of taking grandpa Jack with him.

Jon finished school and got his pilots licence but he now had to get in air time in order to officially become a pilot. What he didn’t know was if grandpa Jack would be his co-pilot. Grandpa Jack knew that Jon needed air time in order to officially become a pilot, Jack never thought that Jon would come to him to ask for air time and to get lessons though. It was two weeks before Jon was to begin getting his hours when he came to talk to grandpa Jack, about him really teaching Jon the ropes. “ Granpa we were told by our professor that we could pick the pilot that we wanted to work with and I chose you, what do you say”? “ Why thank you, Jon, I would be happy to teach you all I know about flying an airplane and how to run an airfield.” Grandpa Jack said.

Jon smiled at him and gave him a big hug. A minute later they got to work. Jon knew a lot already because of grandpa Jack but he still needed to learn more. That night they did a walk around the plane they would be using the next day, it was going to be a big adventure and Jon was going to be at the helm. They were going to go to grandpa Jack’s cottage where he hadn’t been in years with Jon flying the plane himself and Jack sitting next to him. It was going to be a great teaching moment for Jon and was excited about it. It was also nice for grandpa Jack because that meant the two of them got to spend a lot more time together. So they were both really excited about the trip the next day.

“ Jon I am going to be your co-pilot on this trip but you will do the flying to the cottage.” Grandpa Jack said. So that was what Jon did, he learned a lot about the wind and how it was a huge factor when flying you couldn’t fly if the winds were too strong or not strong enough, that type of thing. Jon loved flying he felt weightless even though he was strapped in tight. Which also made him feel like he could do anything and everything if he really wanted too, which he was doing already but it was still a nice thought. He felt as though anything was possible when flying because there was a limitless quality to it. The little plane was flying gave him all of this since it was his favourite plane.

Jon Loved Flying The Planes

Jon loved flying with his grandpa Jack he never wanted to stop. So they went on adventures again at least once a week but this time with Jon at the helm. Which made it so much easier for Jon to get his hours in he had them in no time but that didn’t stop him from flying. Jon couldn’t wait to take the business over when it was time because he was learning so much he just wanted to use his knowledge he was acquiring. He would take great care of the business and all the planes as well as never give up his little plane. Even though he knew how to pilot all the other planes his plane of choice when they went flying was the one grandpa Jack had gifted him. One day when grandpa Jack and Jon were flying in his plane Jon told him what piloting the plane and flying in it actually felt like. “Grandpa I feel free and limitless like I can do anything when I am flying in the plane did you feel the same way”? he asked. “Yes I did Jon and I knew you would too, that is why I wanted you to have the plane and the business.” He said.

“ Jon I want to try flying the plane in some inclement weather,” Grandpa Jack said when they were sitting at the cottage one day after Jon had flown them there. “ Grandpa I don’t know if I am ready for that I haven’t been at this for that long, do you think I can do it”? Jon asked, “ Yes I think you can do it and I think its time we try.” He said. Jon said nothing he was nervous would the little plane hold up, what if it didn’t what would happen? He wasn’t sure he wanted to use his plane for that yet, but grandpa Jack thought it was a good idea, so maybe he would try. They came home the next day and didn’t mention anything they discussed to his parents.

A few weeks later on a Sunday Jon and Jack decided to go to the cottage by Plane again, the weather report looked fine so they did all the nessary things to go, they got there fine with Jon at the helm. Everytime Jon took his plane out he had a huge smile on his face, this time was no different but something odd happened. Jon had walked around the plane before they left checking it out he even checked the fuel lines or so he thought but just as they got in the air the fuel lines went dry and everything started beeping. He did manage to land safely though and refuel the plane. He didn’t take off right after though because he was now confused, Jon looked at grandpa Jack who was sitting next to him and grandpa Jack said, “ there is something wrong with the plane but why you did everything you needed too but maybe it needs a rest lets just get to the cottage and leave it for a bit.” Grandpa Jack said, “ I thought I checked the fuel lines though, and they looked fine,” Jon said. Grandpa Jack just nodded as they took off again and headed for the cottage. Once they got to the cottage and landed safely grandpa Jack did a walk around the plane just to make sure everything was okay with it. He had done one before they left, but something else had happened and they decided to check it at the cottage.

As Grandpa Jack was walking around the plane he noticed something and said, “ Jon did you notice this when you did your walk around the plane before we took off”, Grandpa Jack asked, Jon, had been following him and said “ No I didn’t and I checked the plane before we took off you watched me do it. I am not sure what happened.” Jon said. Grandpa Jack checked the fuel lines and pulled out a piece of paper it was a very long piece which was probably why the fuel lines said there was nothing in them because the fuel couldn’t get through with the huge piece of paper there. “ Fly Little Air Plane Fly.” It read it was the name of the little plane but why was there a piece of paper with it written on it in the fuel lines? “ Jon, did you write this”? Grandpa Jack asked. “ No grandpa I didn’t and even if I did I wouldn’t put it there, I wouldn’t want to compromise my own flying ability,” Jon said and grandpa Jack only nodded. They didn’t fly the plane anymore that day they wanted to figure out where the note had come from.

They did a bunch of research and realized it had come from one of Jon’s friends or so Jon thought he had never told them where the airfield was but they had found it and were jealous that he knew more then them or at least that was what Jon figured. He wasn’t going to talk to his friends though because didn’t want to look suspicious he would just watch more carefully. They flew home that day and when they got to the airfield they decided to check all the other planes. It was werid how it happened and they also wanted to know why. But they never found an answer, Jon did ask grandpa Jack if he should tell his parents though and he said not to worry them. “ Jon it isn’t going to do any good to worry your parents someone just doesn’t want you flying or they are trying to tell you something I am just not sure what it is.” Grandpa Jack said, Jon only nodded, then said someone is try to test my limitless skills but why just because my plane can do almost anything they had realized that none of the other planes were compromised just his little plane which was strange but Jon didn’t want to think about it anymore he would still fly the plane no matter what.

Flying Planes has groundwork too

Weeks went by and Jon did a lot of groundwork with the planes instead of flying they hadn’t been back to the cottage Jack was worried about Jons safety so they were taking all the precautions. Jack hadn’t wanted to tell Jon this but Jon had figured it out and he was okay with it. Would they ever go back and if they did what would happen next? Tune in next time to find out.

Thanks for the comment I never knew that. Although I do know that what you see in the movies is never possible

I was Groundcrew witha Helicopter Squadron, this reminded me of a few incidents we had.

One thing though, fuellines on aircraft are metal alloy and attached with special tools, they only come loose in the movies, there's no way the paper could get there.

We have a pilot in the family so this is an interesting setting for a story.

Hi Louise, I think I missed part one, but your story reminded me of Jim Bob on The Walton's. You might be too young to remember that TV show. He was one of 7 children that loved flying and air planes.
